The Houston Astros will not offer a contract to free-agent P Barret Loux (Diamondbacks), according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. "We've had further internal conversations and we're probably not going to pursue it," general manager Ed Wade said. "We talked long and hard about it and we wanted to make sure we did our advance work and tried to get an arm around the entire situation. At this point in time, it's something we're not going to pursue."

P Barret Loux, the Arizona Diamondbacks' first-round selection, will become a free agent Sept. 1 after the team failed to reach an agreement with him before the deadline Monday, Aug. 16, according to The Associated Press. Loux will be allowed to sign with any team and the Diamondbacks will receive the seventh pick in next year's draft as compensation.

The Arizona Diamondbacks do not appear to be pursuing a contract for P Barret Loux, their first-round draft pick this year, according to The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro. Loux reportedly agreed to a $2 million deal before failing a physical last month. If the team does not sign him, they will receive the No. 7 selection in next year's draft.
