Mets | NY going to six-man rotation

Wed, 27 May 2015 12:15:04 -0700

The New York Mets will use a six-man pitching rotation throughout early to mid-August once SP Dillon Gee is added to the rotation. Gee will join SPs Jacob deGrom, Bartolo Colon, Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard and Jon Niese. The idea is to shave about 30 innings per pitcher and prevent so many arms from going over 200 innings in one season.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't a surprise. With such young arms as Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap), deGrom ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) and Syndergaard ($6,000, 12.0% of cap), the Mets are interested in preserving the health of pitchers. No pitcher will likely get two starts in a week, which could hurt in yearly leagues, but you will still get one start a week in FantasyScore.

Mets | Matt Harvey to make next start

Tue, 26 May 2015 13:33:35 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey threw a bullpen session Tuesday, May 26, and will be fine to make his next start Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) has been suffering from dead arm after he allowed seven earned runs in just four innings in his first bad start of the season his last time out. Harvey will be facing the Miami Marlins this Friday. As one of the worst offensive teams in baseball this year, Harvey should be attractive at FantasyScore, regardless of what he's dealt with recently.

Mets | Matt Harvey may have dead arm

Mon, 25 May 2015 07:15:32 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey (fatigue) may be experiencing dead arm, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) struggled in his last start and could be skipped if the team wants to give him time to rest. Owners should monitor the situation, but Harvey is a solid starting option against most teams on FantasyScore when he is healthy.

Mets | Matt Harvey has terrific outing

Mon, 18 May 2015 22:03:17 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey pitched eight scoreless innings against the St. Louis Cardinals Monday, May 18. He allowed six hits while striking out nine batters and walking one.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) has been one of the better pitchers in fantasy so far this season. He has allowed zero runs in four of his eight starts in 2015 and has a 1.98 ERA. He will face the Pittsburgh Pirates in his next start and should be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Mets | Matt Harvey has dominated the Phillies

Fri, 08 May 2015 12:06:30 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey is 5-0 with a 1.60 ERA through six career starts against the Philadelphia Phillies. Harvey is starting against Philadelphia Friday, May 8.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) is also 5-0 to start this season with a 2.41 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP and a 9.1 K/9. 'The Dark Knight' stands to have another solid night on the hill against Philadelphia's last-place scoring offense. Harvey should be viewed as a high-end No. 1 starter in all fantasy formats going forward, including FantasyScore contests.

Mets | Matt Harvey on loose pitch count vs. Nats

Fri, 01 May 2015 15:42:44 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey is expected to throw approximately 105 pitches against the Washington Nationals Friday, May 1, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: While pitch counts usually hinder fantasy value, Harvey ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) can easily rack up plenty of fake points with 105 pitches. Continue to view him as a No. 1 option in all formats, and he is worth building your FantasyScore lineup around Friday.

Mets | Matt Harvey shines in subway game

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey struck out seven batters over 8 2/3 innings to record his fourth win of the season Saturday, April 25. Harvey allowed two runs on five hits, including a home run, and two walks.

Fantasy Tip: Through four starts, Harvey ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) is 4-0, with a 3.04 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP and a 10.5 K/9. He is erasing any concerns about his return from Tommy John surgery, and FatasyScore players can turn to him with confidence in the majority of matchups.

Mets | Matt Harvey good to go Saturday

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 15:08:21 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey (ankle) threw with his ankle taped Thursday, April 23, and is set to make his start against the New York Yankees Saturday, April 25. He originally hurt his left ankle banging into an outfield wall while shagging balls in spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) is off to a fine start in his return from Tommy John surgery in 2015, and he should be considered a strong FantasyScore play tomorrow against the strikeout-happy Yanks. Don't let his minor ankle ailment scare you off.

Mets | Matt Harvey nursing ankle injury

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 18:21:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SP Matt Harvey (ankle) is dealing with a mild left ankle sprain, the team said Wednesday, April 22. He is not expected to miss his next scheduled start Saturday, April 25, against the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Even though he will pitch, and he is 3-0 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 18 innings, he is a risky play in FantasyScore at $7,700 (or 15.4% of cap). It's uncertain if the injury could flare up during the game. He'll also be making his first-career start at Yankee Stadium, so that isn't exactly the easiest venue to pitch, either. Start him at your own peril.
