Thu, 16 May 2013 15:09:31 -0700 The Colorado Rockies placed SP Jeff Francis (groin) on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain Thursday, May 16, and designated INF Reid Brignac for assignment. 3B DJ LeMahieu and P Rob Scahill were both recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Fantasy Tip: Tyler Chatwood and Drew Pomeranz are both candidates to replace Francis in the rotation, starting Sunday. Roy Oswalt is probably the best long-term bet for this rotation spot, though, but all three of these options are risky propositions in mixed formats.
Sun, 21 Apr 2013 20:21:16 -0700 The Colorado Rockies could turn to SPs Tyler Chatwood or Drew Pomeranz, both currently at Triple-A Colorado Spring, to start Wednesday, April 24, against the Atlanta Braves.
Tue, 26 Mar 2013 10:30:16 -0700 The Colorado Rockies sent SP Drew Pomeranz to the minors Monday, March 25. Fantasy Tip: Amid Pomeranz's frustrating 2012 season, there were glimpses of hope and growth in his pitching profile. This isn't a surprise; he'll have plenty to work on down on the farm before he's trusted with a rotation post again. Keep an eye on his progress for NL-only leagues.
Thu, 07 Mar 2013 16:18:02 -0800 Colorado Rockies SP Drew Pomeranz gave up one run in 2 2/3 innings against a star-studded Team USA roster Wednesday, March 6, and he made good adjustments on the fly in the outing. "Being so early, third time out, it felt good," Pomeranz said. "That's what I struggled with in years past, trying to find the right delivery and the right feeling. I definitely felt that feeling, that I had the delivery that I'm supposed to have, that I had a few years ago when I felt real good."
Mon, 25 Feb 2013 15:30:09 -0800 Colorado Rockies SP Drew Pomeranz is trying to come up with new pitch sequences that will make him less predictable. "I don't want to pitch everyone the same way, like I did at times last year," Pomeranz said. "I was pretty happy with what I did. I had two walks, but those were not balls by much - they were close calls. That's what this is for."
Wed, 20 Feb 2013 21:58:10 -0800 Colorado Rockies SP Drew Pomeranz will start the Cactus League opener Saturday, Feb. 23, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He is competing for the fifth spot in the rotation. His second appearance will come in relief Wednesday, Feb. 27.
Tue, 18 Sep 2012 08:59:44 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Drew Pomeranz's next start has been pushed back to Friday, Sept. 21, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. SP Alex White will be moved to the bullpen.
Thu, 30 Aug 2012 09:25:22 -0700 The Colorado Rockies will continue to use a form of the four-man rotation next season, according to general manager Dan O'Dowd. Four starters would be on a 75-pitch count and four "hybrid" pitchers would be on roster that would be trained starters limited to 50 pitches. SPs Jorge De La Rosa, Jhoulys Chacin, Jeff Francis and Drew Pomeranz could be the four starters next year, followed by Ps Tyler Chatwood, Alex White, Juan Nicasio and Christian Friedrich as the piggyback pitchers. The Rockies have pitched better this year since making the change; before the switch the starters were 13-20 with a 6.28 ERA and after the switch they are 11-26 with a 5.61 ERA in 64 games.
Fri, 24 Aug 2012 12:56:12 -0700 Colorado Rockies SPs Jhoulys Chacin and Jeff Francis are candidates to have higher pitch-count ceilings in their starts, according to manager Jim Tracy. SPs Drew Pomeranz, Alex White and Tyler Chatwood will continue to be limited down the stretch. "There are some learning points," Tracy said. "I know that none of these young starters that we have want to be taken out of the game after three innings. I'm OK with that. Pitch better. Pitch more consistently, and I won't take you out."
Fri, 17 Aug 2012 16:06:21 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (pectoral) will return to the rotation and start Tuesday, Aug. 21, against the New York Mets. The team will likely monitor SP Drew Pomeranz (biceps) and possibly limit his innings from here on out. SP Guillermo Moscoso, who made a spot start Wednesday, Aug. 15, will move to the bullpen.
