Oakland Athletics SP Drew Pomeranz's (hand) throwing session went well Monday, July 7, according to manager Bob Melvin.
Fantasy Tip: Pomeranz's broken hand isn't too serious, and it's also his non-throwing hand. Those are positives that could make his return speedier than initially believed. However, his rotation spot might not be there to return to when he's ready now.

Oakland Athletics SP Drew Pomeranz (hand) is dealing with a "boxer's break" in his right hand, an MRI exam confirmed. He may attempt to play catch Monday, July 7, since his hand is healing so well.
Fantasy Tip: Pomeranz is by no means assured of getting his rotation spot back after the team traded for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel. Only hang onto Pomeranz in AL leagues for the time being.

The Oakland Athletics placed SP Drew Pomeranz (hand) on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand Tuesday, June 17, and recalled RP Evan Scribner from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Pomeranz will miss an extended period with this injury. Brad Mills, whom the A's acquired in a trade today, is expected to enter the rotation to fill Pomeranz's spot. Look to add Mills, who was pitching very well at Class AAA for the Colorado Rockies, in AL-only leagues.

Oakland Athletics SP Drew Pomeranz allowed three hits and two walks over five shutout innings while fanning a career-high eight batters in his win over the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, May 13.
Fantasy Tip: He has thrown 10 shutout innings and fanned 13 in his two starts since being thrust into the rotation. He's worth eyeing on waivers in mixed leagues.

The Oakland Athletics have optioned SP Dan Straily to Class AAA Sacramento and placed RP Ryan Cook (forearm) on the 15-day disabled list. Oakland also called up RPs Fernando Rodriguez and Joe Savery.
Fantasy Tip: They'll have Straily work on a few things; he's worth holding in some deep games because of his talent, but he could be more hurtful dead weight in mixed leagues. Expect Drew Pomeranz to take over his spot in the rotation; he's a pickup everywhere outside of extremely shallow formats; he's shown signs of reviving his prospect hype and finally resides in an organization that'll help him succeed.

Oakland Athletics SP Drew Pomeranz has been slated to start the second game of the team's doubleheader Wednesday, May 7, unless he's needed in relief in the first game. If that's the case, SP Arnold Leon will start the second game.
Fantasy Tip: Pomeranz is a long-term target for AL-only leagues if he has a permanent stay in the rotation. However, this'll just be a spot start.
