Updating a previous item, the Toronto Blue Jays spent a combined $3.5 million on the signing bonuses for P Adonis Cardona and 3B Gabriel Cenas Tuesday, July 13, according to The Toronto Star's Morgan Campbell. Cardona will receive $2.8 million to sign while Cenas will receive $700,000.

The Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly close to a deal with 16-year-old Venezuelan P Adonis Cardona, however, several teams are angry, according to the National Post's Jeremy Sandler. Major League Baseball's rules forbid teams from negotiating with international free agents before July 2. "That's being talked about a lot in baseball, that's a no-no," one team's director of international scouting said. "I already know four or five teams that have already contacted Major League Baseball to ask about that."
