Astros | Houston sitting three lefties

Mon, 30 May 2016 11:16:14 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Luis Valbuena, 3B Colin Moran and OF Tony Kemp are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Edwin Escobar Monday, May 30. OF Colby Rasmus will start in left field, while OF Jake Marisnick will start in center field and is batting seventh. 1B Tyler White will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at third base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick has been more productive at the plate recently but is still hitting only .164 on the season, so owners should be able to find better options. White and Gonzalez are both hitting under .230 this season and are not strong fantasy option.

Astros | Carlos Correa sitting out

Sun, 29 May 2016 10:51:06 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano Sunday, May 29. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at shortstop and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez only has three hits in his last 10 games and should be avoided in most fantasy leagues until he posts better numbers.

Astros | Colin Moran, Tony Kemp starting

Tue, 24 May 2016 14:20:48 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Colin Moran is starting at third base and is hitting seventh, and OF Tony Kemp is in left field and batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Tuesday, May 24. 1B Tyler White and INF Marwin Gonzalez are starting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: White has slumped badly since a hot start in April and his average is down to .230. He's quickly losing fantasy luster in deep mixed and AL leagues. Gonzalez is intriguing for his pop and multipositional eligibility, but with Moran around, his playing time situation is sketchy. Moran and Kemp are notable prospects that can contribute for owners in deeper leagues if they see enough at-bats. In daily formats tonight they're both more along the lines of deep sleepers against the hot Tillman. Moran is hitless in seven at-bats while the speedy Kemp has two hits (one double) in nine at-bats so far.

Astros | Three regulars out for Houston

Sun, 22 May 2016 10:37:11 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Colin Moran, 3B Luis Valbuena and OF Tony Kemp are not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels Sunday, May 22. 1B Tyler White will start at first base and is batting sixth. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at third base and is batting seventh, while OF Jake Marisnick will start in center field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick and Gonzalez are hitting under .100 over the past seven days and should be avoided in most leagues. White is hitting .267 with two home runs and three RBI during that span and is a sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues.

Astros | Colin Moran, Marwin Gonzalez draw starts

Wed, 18 May 2016 14:27:25 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Colin Moran and INF Marwin Gonzalez are starting against Chicago White Sox SP Mat Latos Wednesday, May 18. Moran is at third base and hitting sixth, while Gonzalez is starting at first and is batting seventh. 3B Luis Valbuena and 1B Tyler White will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Moran and Gonzalez could start seeing more playing time at the expense of Valbuena and White. Moran will be making his major league debut after hitting .288 with three home runs and 22 RBI at Class AAA Fresno. He doesn't have much power but has a mature approach at the dish and can hit for average. Consider adding him in AL-only and deep mixed leagues if he plays enough. Gonzalez gives you plenty of options with eligibility at every infield position but catcher. He also has some power that'll certainly play in deeper leagues for depth.

Astros | Luis Valbuena takes a seat

Tue, 17 May 2016 14:43:05 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Carlos Rodon Tuesday, May 17. INF Marwin Gonzalez (foot) is at the hot corner and is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena could lose significant playing after the Astros called up prospect Colin Moran to play some third base. Gonzalez should continue to see starts here and there as a super utility player, and he's especially valuable for his multipositional eligibility in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. He has the potential to reach double-digit home runs for the second straight season.

Astros | Marwin Gonzalez out with foot injury

Sun, 15 May 2016 09:55:46 -0700

Houston Astros INF Marwin Gonzalez (foot) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 15, after fouling a ball off his right foot against the Boston Red Sox Saturday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez should be able to return to action Tuesday, May 17. He is batting .253 with three home runs and 11 RBI through 103 at-bats and should be viewed as decent middle infield depth in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

Astros | Marwin Gonzalez starting at first base again

Fri, 13 May 2016 14:23:57 -0700

Houston Astros INF Marwin Gonzalez is starting at first base and batting fifth against Boston Red Sox SP Steven Wright Friday, May 13.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez has started five of the past six games at first base, and he is a valuable fantasy commodity because of his positional eligibility all over the diamond. Depending on your league settings, Gonzalez could be plugged in anywhere but catcher. Through his past eight games, Gonzalez has three runs, two home runs, six RBI and a stolen base with a .355 batting average.

Astros | Two Astros sitting

Wed, 11 May 2016 08:29:00 -0700

Houston Astros OF Preston Tucker and 1B Tyler White are out of the lineup Wednesday, May 11. 1B Marwin Gonzalez hits fifth, and OF Jake Marisnick is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is hitting .348 the last seven days, but he has a tough matchup against Danny Salazar. He's an iffy low-end grab today. Marisnick has one hit in 16 at-bats (.063) this year and shouldn't be considered.

Astros | No Tyler White against Cleveland

Mon, 09 May 2016 13:06:22 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Tyler White is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9. INF Marwin Gonzalez is starting at first base and batting sixth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Monday.

Fantasy Tip: White could be kick-starting another hot stretch after going 5-for-11 through his past three games, and avoiding a tough matchup Monday could help him stay hot at the dish. White projects to continue having peaks and valleys like most young hitters do, so have alternative options ready if he begins slumping again. Gonzalez is a depth option in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, and he is currently 7-for-19 through his past five games. Just note, it is a tough matchup against Kluber, which makes Gonzalez a risky daily option Monday.
