Giants | Victor Cruz continues to make progress

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 17:49:08 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) will have to participate in a mandatory conditioning drill at the start of training camp and believes he could pass it now. Cruz still has not worked with QB Eli Manning on route running or timing drills.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz has been making good progress since suffering the injury and should be able to participate in at least some drills when training camp begins. Cruz should see regular playing time this season and could be a solid middle-round pick if he is healthy.

Giants | Victor Cruz confident in health

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 05:40:31 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) is hopeful he'll avoid the Physically Unable to Perform list and is confident he could pass the pre-training camp conditioning test right now. "I'm trying to listen to my body and how it feels," Cruz said. "By late July, early August, I should be somewhere around 100%."

Fantasy Tip: Cruz suffered an injury that doesn't typically allow players to return to pre-injury form, but he's worth a flyer as a WR4.

Giants | Victor Cruz progressing

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 14:12:26 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) said he is progressing well as he continues to recover from knee surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz said in late May that he was about 80% recovered from the tear in his right patella tendon. It's promising that he is doing well in his rehabilitation, but only time will tell if Cruz will be the same player he was before the injury. He carries some risk with him this year, and the Giants also have Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle to throw to, among others, so draft him as a WR4.

Giants | Victor Cruz on sidelines

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 08:52:59 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) is working on the sidelines in practice Monday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz is coming back from a serious knee injury and may never be the same player again. He's still worth a flyer near the end of drafts.

Giants | Victor Cruz talks health

Thu, 28 May 2015 07:58:53 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) said he is around 80% recovered from tearing his right patella tendon Wednesday, May 27. Cruz has been running straight-line routes for approximately two weeks and hasn't experienced any pain or swelling.

Fantasy Tip: While this is good to hear, don't be too optimistic for a strong recovery in 2015. Cruz is coming back from a devastating injury that typically robs players of their explosion, which is a trademark of his game. He's worth nothing more than a very late flier in cavernous PPR leagues.

Giants | NYG receivers catch endorsement

Wed, 20 May 2015 18:18:20 -0700

New York Giants WRs Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle all received strong endorsements from ex-Giants WR Stephen Baker Tuesday, May 19. "I think [the Giants offense] will be a matchup nightmare, and I love the diversity of the receivers," said Baker. "You've got little Cruz, who can shake and bake in the middle, then you've got Beckham on the outside, who's just explosive, and then you have Randle, I consider him a smooth receiver, when he catches a pass, he just looks smooth. I like him as a third down possession-type guy," Baker said.

Fantasy Tip: With the vast majority of fantasy owners enamored by Beckham Jr., Cruz and Randle will be available at huge discounts following disappointing seasons. Beckham Jr. will be drawing the focus of opposing defenses, leaving plenty of room for his fellow wideouts to operate.

Giants | Victor Cruz not rushing rehab

Wed, 13 May 2015 09:28:54 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) said he will not rush his rehab in order to participate in offseason workouts and minicamps. Cruz has a good chance to be ready for training camp. He is feeling good and has not reported swelling in the knee even after workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz does not have to participate in offseason workouts, so he likely is working on being ready for camp. Cruz could be eased back into the lineup early in the season but should still have a solid role as one of the top three receivers. Owners could consider Cruz as a No. 3 receiver in drafts next season.

Giants | Victor Cruz begins making cuts

Wed, 13 May 2015 06:25:42 -0700

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) has begun making cuts in his routes, and he labeled himself about 75-80% in his recovery from a torn patellar tendon.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz appears to be on track for the start of the season, but the type of injury he suffered is one that is difficult to return from. You're probably looking at a WR3 flyer with significant risk and solid reward with Cruz.

Giants | Victor Cruz won't practice in minicamp

Tue, 12 May 2015 16:06:29 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee) will not participate in team practices during the Giants' minicamp, but will be doing some of his own rehabilitation work. Cruz has already started running routes as he recovers from a torn patellar tendon.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz seems to steadily be making progress as he attempts to be ready for Week 1 of the 2015 season. Cruz has already said that he believes he'll be ready for the start of the season and that he'll be able to return to pre-injury form. If he is healthy, he'll still have Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle to contend with in the Giants' offense. He has WR2 potential if he can stay on the field and play the way he did before the injury.
