Orioles | Matt Wieters out Wednesday

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 12:37:23 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 1. C Caleb Joseph is behind the plate and is hitting eighth against Texas Rangers SP Nick Martinez.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) hit just .196 (9-for-46) with a home run and three RBI in June, but a struggling Martinez could be just what he needs to get on track. For what it's worth, Joseph has also hit much better at home this year. Consider him a sleeper catching play tonight.

Orioles | Matt Wieters sitting vs. Texas

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 12:41:02 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 29. C Caleb Joseph is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Texas Rangers SP Wandy Rodriguez Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) can be avoided in all formats Monday. He has nine runs, three home runs, 10 RBI and a .288/.316/.596 slash line over 16 games since returning from injury, and he projects to be a near-elite catcher in all fantasy formats going forward. Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has just one multi-hit game over his past 20 starts, and FantasyScore players should likely aim higher Monday.

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is out of the starting lineup Sunday, June 28, against the Cleveland Indians. C Caleb Joseph will start behind the plate and hit ninth in the order against RHP Trevor Bauer.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is just 2-for-22 in his past six games, and he shouldn't be of interest to FantasyScore owners.

Orioles | Matt Wieters not in lineup

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 13:43:22 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 26. C Caleb Joseph is starting and hitting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has really struggled offensively since the arrival of Wieters pushed him to backup catching duty. He's one to avoid Friday night on FantasyScore against the Klubot.

Orioles | Matt Wieters receives rest

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 12:47:52 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 24. C Caleb Joseph is starting and hitting eighth against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz.

Fantasy Tip: You could do much worse than Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) as your FantasyScore catching option today as a way to save salary cap space for your roster. However, he's not a recommended option. Since Wieters has returned in June, Joseph is hitting .188 (6-for-32) with a home run and three RBI.

Orioles | Caleb Joseph excelling with RISP

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 07:25:20 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Caleb Joseph is hitting .371 with runners in scoring position this season, entering Sunday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: While Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is benefitting from both a small sample size (he's 13-for-35) and luck (he's hitting just .241 overall for the season) it has led to his 21 RBI this season, which is just seven fewer than he had in 275 plate appearances a year ago. Although Matt Wieters is back in the Orioles' lineup, Joseph will be a cost-effective option on the occasions when he does start.

Orioles | Matt Wieters sitting out

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 08:31:13 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Saturday, June 20. C Caleb Joseph will be the starting catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been receiving more days off since returning from his injury and should play in the next game or two. Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has been on a bit of a cold streak in June with a .179 batting average and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerome Williams Tuesday, June 16. C Caleb Joseph will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has received some off days since returning from the disabled list. Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .250 this season and has four hits and two RBI in his last two games. Joseph could be a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Matt Wieters out of the lineup

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 09:41:32 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Adam Warren Sunday, June 14. C Caleb Joseph will be the starting catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been taking things slow in his return but should return to the lineup in the new game or two. Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) had three hits in his last start but is hitting .211 this month. Owners on FantasyScore could consider Joseph as a cheaper option at catcher.
