Orioles | Matt Wieters returns to lineup

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 11:10:42 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters will bat fifth and start behind the plate against Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland Sunday, Aug. 30. C Caleb Joseph, who caught Saturday, Aug. 29, will bat sixth and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is just 3-for-18 over the past week and although he has homered twice in his career versus Holland, those are his only hits in 15 lifetime at-bats against the southpaw. Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) hasn't done much better over the last seven days, with a .200 mark in 20 at-bats. Better low-cost catching options are available today in FantasyScore.

Orioles | Matt Wieters out of the lineup

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 15:20:45 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez Saturday, Aug. 29. C Caleb Joseph will start at catcher and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting .262 with four home runs and 15 RBI this month and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Caleb Joseph starting behind the plate

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 15:06:37 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Caleb Joseph is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is riding a 1-for-12 slide, and his .197/.232/.364 slash line against left-handed starters doesn't instill a lot of confidence. View Jospeh as a potential low-priced value play at FantasyScore Tuesday, but he is far from a lineup lock.

Orioles | Matt Wieters will not start

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 10:14:53 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Sunday, Aug. 23. C Caleb Joseph will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should play in the next game or two. Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting .311 with four home runs and 13 RBI this month and could be a solid starting option.

Orioles | Caleb Joseph starting behind the dish

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 12:58:14 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Caleb Joseph is batting eighth against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) owns a .314/.346/.725 slash line over his past 55 plate appearances and has a respectable .809 OPS against lefties this season. FantasyScore players can view Joseph as a potential value play at catcher Friday.

Orioles | Matt Wieters taking day off

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 12:56:17 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 19. C Caleb Joseph is starting behind the plate again and is hitting ninth against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has more fantasy value than most backup catchers, as he has 11 home runs and 43 RBI this season while filling in for Wieters earlier this season. However, a matchup against young flamethrower Syndergaard isn't ideal tonight.

Orioles | Matt Wieters still out of the lineup

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:01:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 17. C Steve Clevenger is batting sixth as the designated hitter, and C Caleb Joseph is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) sounds close to returning, but he could also land on the disabled list, if it is deemed he is unable to play. Check back for an update, as he is testing his hamstring Monday. Against Gray ($9,600, 19.2% of cap), Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Clevenger ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) are low-end catcher options at FanasyScore. Although, Clevenger presents significant cap relief and is hitting in a prime lineup spot.

Orioles | Career game for Caleb Joseph

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 16:41:31 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Caleb Joseph went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and a career-high four RBI in an 18-2 win over the Oakland Athletics Sunday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has been seeing plenty of playing time with Matt Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) injured, and he has 11 RBI in 10 games in August. If the Orioles draw a friendly matchup, consider using Joseph as a cheaper catcher option at FantasyScore.

Orioles | Matt Wieters out again Sunday

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:37:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup Sunday, Aug 16, against the Oakland Athletics. C Caleb Joseph will start behind the plate and hit ninth in the order against RHP Kendall Graveman.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is just 1-for-14 in his last four games. Before that Joseph had four consecutive multi-hit games in games he started, but he has cooled down and is too much of a risk.

Orioles | No Matt Wieters Wednesday

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 10:36:45 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 5. C Caleb Joseph is starting and hitting ninth against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) does have six home runs against right-handed pitchers when he was filling in as the starting catcher with Wieters on the DL. But a lineup spot dead last and in an extreme pitcher's park, he shouldn't excite daily players that much today.
