The Houston Texans and Chicago Bears are considered frontrunners to land free-agent TE Steve Maneri (Chiefs), a league source said Monday, March 18.

Fantasy Tip: Maneri is mostly known for his ability to run-block, and he isn't much of a passer catcher. While he wouldn't be a good fantasy option, his addition would be good news to help QB Matt Schaub stay off his back, and Maneri could also help free up more running room for RB Arian Foster. The Chicago Bears and Houston Texans are considered frontrunners to land free-agent TE Steve Maneri (Chiefs), a league source said Monday, March 18.

Fantasy Tip: Maneri is best known for his blocking prowess, and he would likely fill the role previously held by TE Matt Spaeth, who has since moved on to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Maneri wouldn't be useful from a fantasy perspective, but his addition would be good for the health of QB Jay Cutler, and might create more running room for RB Matt Forte.
