San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy used C Hector Sanchez at first base in the Cactus League spring game Wednesday, March 12, and it gives him another option in case 1B Brandon Belt should go down to an injury. "He did an outstanding job," pitcher Tim Lincecum said. Sanchez lost 20 pounds during the offseason, and his versatility and flexibility is pleasing to his skipper.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez would have slightly more fantasy appeal in NL-only leagues if he gains eligibility at first base, but he still needs a long-term injury to either Brandon Belt or Buster Posey to have any real appeal.

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is resting Friday, Aug. 16, and manager Bruce Bochy suggested that he could rest his catcher more frequently down the stretch. "We've played some long games," Bochy said. "The first six weeks the pitching struggled a little bit and we had some long games there. It's a different game when you catch 125 or 130 pitches than 200 pitches. It takes a toll on you. It's not the same type of game." Bochy might rest Posey again Sunday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Bochy rewarded Hector Sanchez with the start tonight after his game-winning pinch-hit homer yesterday. With the Giants out of contention, Posey might not be the only regular given more rest down the stretch. Keep that in mind as you set your daily and weekly rosters.
