Seattle Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen will start for Triple-A Tacoma Tuesday, Aug. 6, and throw a few innings. The team isn't saying that they're making him a starter, but the idea is to let him work on all of his pitches in multiple innings.
Fantasy Tip: The M's seem committed to having Wilhelmsen working on his problems, so don't count on him returning to Seattle anytime soon. Regaining the closer's role this year is probably less likely, so keep that in mind. He shouldn't be on any rosters right now.

The Seattle Mariners optioned RP Tom Wilhelmsen to Triple-A Tacoma Monday, Aug. 5.
Fantasy Tip: Wilhelmsen lost his closer's job, and now he will work with the Rainiers trying to make his way back up to the big club. Manager Eric Wedge doesn't trust him, and is using Danny Farquhar as his new closer now. Drop Wilhelmsen in all fantasy leagues.

Seattle Mariners acting manager Robby Thompson said the team will go back to a committee approach to the ninth inning after RP Tom Wilhelmsen blew the save Thursday, Aug. 1.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson mentioned that they'll approach the ninth based on situations, meaning he's likely to go with either Yoervis Medina or Wilhelmsen against righties and Oliver Perez against lefties. The darkhorse here would be Danny Farquhar. Grab Perez or Medina in deep mixed leagues if you're desperate for a bump in saves.

The Seattle Mariners are active in trade discussions that involve RP Tom Wilhelmsen and RP Oliver Perez, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: If the M's were able to deal both players, save situations would likely be handled on a committee basis. Yoervis Medina would probably be the top candidate for them, however. Stephen Pryor (lat) and Carter Capps (on the farm) could also factor in eventually.

Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge said RP Tom Wilhelmsen has worked his way back into ninth-inning duties after taking a break for three weeks.
Fantasy Tip: Wilhelmsen is likely still owned in all leagues, but if he's not, pick him up immediately. It isn't worth hanging onto Oliver Perez or Carter Capps unless you're in a really deep AL-only league.

Seattle Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen recorded a line out to center field and a pair of groundouts Wednesday, July 3, to pick up the save against the Texas Rangers. It was his first save since June 10.
Fantasy Tip: It appears Wilhelmsen is back as the team's closer, as he was dominant against a very good team on the road in a high-leverage situation. If he is available in AL-only leagues or deeper mixed formats and you need saves, grab him.

Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge said he may use RP Tom Wilhelmsen in the ninth inning if a save situation arises Wednesday, July 3.
Fantasy Tip: It appears that Wedge is ready to go back to Wilhelmsen sooner than late since nobody else really stepped up in the bullpen to give Wedge a reason to keep Wilhelmsen in the early innings. Add Wilhelmsen immediately if he's still available in your league.

Seattle Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen is close to returning to the closer role, said manager Eric Wedge. Wilhelmsen is likely to see at least another appearance in setup duty first.
Fantasy Tip: It'll probably be a looser timetable than that, but since Seattle's back end hasn't delivered a singular option to usurp him, Wilhelmsen's recent improvement might be enough for him to regain the gig this week. See if he was dropped in your league.

Seattle Mariners RP Oliver Perez recorded his first major league save Friday, June 14.
Fantasy Tip: Three out of the four batters he faced were right-handed, including two out of three due up when he took the mound. That might mean trusts him to get at least a piece of this committee setup with Tom Wilhelmsen being kept from save spots. If you can pick up Perez with no strings attached, go for it; he's had a career revival in the bullpen and isn't the same wild thing he used to be as a starter. However, don't assume he'll be the only one to record a closure in the future. They still have Carter Capps, among others, to use.
