Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano (elbow) is concerned enough about his elbow problem that he asked his agent, Rob Plummer, if he should undergo surgery to fix it. "If this was nothing, Miguel wouldn't have asked me that," Plummer said. "I have a feeling this is more than nothing. We have to wait for the MRI to be read, but it feels like this is more than nothing."
Sano's 2014 would likely be lost if he had surgery, although he could return late in the season as a designated hitter, but the Twins don't have much interest in Sano as a DH. Unless Sano's MRI exam shows a torn ulnar collateral ligament, the Twins are expected to play it conservative and have him rest and rehab to avoid a surgical procedure.

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano (elbow) felt something in his elbow while making a throw Thursday, Feb. 27, and he'll be evaluated Friday, Feb. 28.
Fantasy Tip: Tommy John surgery was not being ruled out for Sano last month, so this is definitely something worth watching. He's a risky selection in redraft leagues unless it's a deep AL-only format. Sano, if he gets past his elbow issues without surgery, probably won't be up in the big leagues until later this season, anyway.

Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano (elbow) said he expects to hit anywhere from 45 to 55 home runs in 2014. He hit 35 home runs in 123 minor league games in 2013 while battling a sore elbow for the majority of the season. Sano was given a clean bill of health during a physical over the weekend, and it looks like he'll avoid surgery on his elbow. He plans to work on his grasp of the strike zone in order to become a better hitter and make the team out of spring training.
