Marlins | Adeiny Hechavarria sitting vs. Phillies

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 12:47:05 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. SS Miguel Rojas is starting at shortstop and batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria is a fringe starting option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues because of his consistent playing time, but his 33 runs, three home runs, 27 RBI and .244/.282/.343 slash line don't suffice in the majority of fantasy formats. Rojas owns a career .584 OPS and isn't a viable fantasy option.

Phillies | Aaron Nola sharp in no-decision

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 23:08:35 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola (shoulder) allowed just two hits and a walk with five strikeouts over six scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday, July 18, against the Miami Marlins, matching All-Star SP Jose Fernandez pitch for pitch. He left early after SS Adeiny Hechavarria ripped a line drive off his right shoulder. Nola said after the game that he is fine.

Fantasy Tip: It was an impressive outing for Nola, who lowered his ERA to 4.41 with the efficient 68-pitch effort. Nola might have some bruising after the line drive, so we'll keep an eye on his health for his next scheduled start over the weekend.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich, J.T. Realmuto out

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:48:07 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich and C J.T. Realmuto are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 5. 2B Miguel Rojas is at second base and is batting seventh, while C Jeff Mathis is behind the plate and hitting eighth against New York Mets SP Steven Matz. Also, SS Adeiny Hechavarria moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas and Mathis are both very light hitters and are desperation picks as deep sleepers in DFS. Hechavarria is hot lately with 10 hits in his last 26 at-bats (.385) with three RBI since June 28. He sees a boost in his daily value while hitting leadoff, but he's unlikely to fill the stat sheet as a midrange shortstop option.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton resting Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 10:30:25 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Lucas Harrell Saturday, July 2. OF Ichiro Suzuki will bat leadoff and play right field, while INF Miguel Rojas will bat eighth and play shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is batting .342 through 155 at-bats this season and makes a productive source of salary cap relief for DFS, whereas Rojas should be viewed strictly as an inexpensive flier.

Marlins | Adeiny Hechavarria leading off vs. Cubs

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 12:03:40 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria is leading off against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Thursday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria is a low-end option in deep mixed and NL-only seasonal leagues, but he does have a .291/.342/.433 slash line against left-handed hurlers since the beginning of last season. View him as a low-priced flier in daily contests Thursday.

Marlins | Two Fish out Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 07:12:56 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado and C J.T. Realmuto are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22, with SS Adeiny Hechavarria hitting second and C Jeff Mathis hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria is hitting .242 this month in what has been a "meh" season for him. He has a good matchup against John Gant, and he's a low-end option today, though. Mathis doesn't have a potent enough bat for much consideration in DFS.

Marlins | Three MIA regulars sitting out Sunday

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 07:43:55 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, C J.T. Realmuto and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Sunday, June 19. INF Chris Johnson will play first base and bat sixth, C Jeff Mathis will start behind the plate and bat seventh and INF Miguel Rojas will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is batting .269 this month and is 3-for-10 over the past week but should only be viewed as a desperation source of cap relief in DFS. Mathis and Rojas have both struggled at the plate recently and are not worthy of lineup consideration in any fantasy format.

Marlins | Adeiny Hechavarria leading off

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 14:55:05 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria is batting first in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Drew Pomeranz Tuesday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria has recorded six hits and five RBI over his last six games and should see at least one extra at-bat Tuesday since he is hitting at the top of the lineup. He should have some value in daily fantasy leagues but is not a great option.

Marlins | Adeiny Hechavarria drives in four runs

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 05:41:04 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria drove in four runs Monday, June 13, in a 13-4 win over the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria wasn't much of a power threat for starters, and he only has 21 RBIs after getting 48 last year. There are better options to play at shortstop, as Hechavarria's fantasy value is minimal at best.

Marlins | Miami resting two starters

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 11:25:48 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Sunday, June 12. 1B Chris Johnson will start at first base and is batting sixth in the lineup. SS Miguel Rojas will start at shortstop and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has four hits and two RBI in eight games this month and is hitting .236 this season. Owners likely will be able to find better options to use in their lineups. Rojas has been on a bit of a cold streak lately and has only four hits in his last 12 games. Rojas probably can be avoided in most leagues.
