"We've had too many of them. There's no question about that. They happen all around the league. I get that. Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was irked at LB Bruce Carter and S Jeff Heath New York Giants TE Brandon Myers made a catch on fourth down and was able to get up and run into the end zone in Week 12. Carter and Heath ran past Myers without touching him, allowing him to get up and score the touchdown. "It was a bad play and that was a fourth-down play," Garrett said. "They ran a little rub route and they got the ball up the sidelines and they simply have to get their hands on the guy when he's on the ground."

Dallas Cowboys LB Bruce Carter is back in the starting lineup entering Week 6 after being benched last week. Carter will start in the regular defense and in nickel packages against the Washington Redskins. LB Ernie Sims was promoted in an effort to teach Carter a lesson for his poor play. Sims will likely start at strongside linebacker in place of LB Justin Durant (groin). The transition to a 4-3 defense under coordinator Monte Kiffin has been a slow process for Carter.

Dallas Cowboys LB Bruce Carter had big problems covering his opponents in the team's Week 4 loss to the San Diego Chargers, in which the team allowed QB Philip Rivers to throw for over 400 yards. LB Ernie Sims saw more time at the expense of Carter. "We wanted to give Ernie Sims some chances to come play, particularly in that nickel package, so a combination of those two things. Bruce was also dealing with a little bit of a foot injury in the second part of that game," head coach Jason Garrett said. "So we mixed those two guys in, gave Ernie some chances, and we've just got to get better there. Bruce has been a good cover linebacker for us, and he'll be a good cover linebacker for us again." Sims may remain in nickel packages over Carter starting in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said LB Bruce Carter (foot) was dealing with a foot problem in the second half of the Week 4 game against the San Diego Chargers, but the coach also criticized Carter after RB Danny Woodhead burned Carter for two scores. "Bruce had some problems covering their guys," Garrett said Monday, Sept. 30. "He didn't cover them well, and there (are) some other things going on in our other coverage that he didn't do quite enough of a good job on." Carter was apparently benched in the second half, playing just 48 snaps in Week 4, with LB Ernie Sims playing 27 snaps.

The Dallas Cowboys could go into a 4-3 defensive alignment in their Week 8 game against the New York Giants due to injuries to LB Sean Lee (toe) and DE Sean Lissemore (ankle). "I think that's something they'll evaluate," DE Marcus Spears said of the defensive coaches. "We've been a multifaceted defense since the beginning of the year so guys have to prepare for 3-4 and 4-3. For us, that's the way we've been playing up to this point and I don't think that will change much." "It was amazing what Bruce Carter was able to do relative to the time you assess when you have that kind of injury. He was outstanding in his rehab. He was really used with the speed and skill on special teams, he made some good plays for us, did some things out there a lot of normal players can't do.
