Tennessee Titans CB Alterraun Verner said he hopes to lineup more against the slot receiver this season in certain defensive packages because it would allow him to blitz as well as cover the slot receiver. "I like being inside, being with the linebackers, getting to blitz and guard some of the slot guys because that is where the ball goes most the time with the Wes Welkers and the great tight ends — they like to work those areas especially on third down,: Verner said.

Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith was accused of taking a cheap shot in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. "He was frustrated, and he took a cheap one at me," Titans CB Alterraun Verner said. "He kind of clothes-lined me and threw me on the ground. I don't even know what all went down. Someone told me tried to sock me when I was on the ground."
