Eagles | Andy Reid says Michael Vick has concussion

Sun, 18 Sep 2011 21:19:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said after the Week 2 game Sunday, Sept. 18, that QB Michael Vick (concussion) suffered a concussion in the second half. It isn't automatic that Vick will miss the Week 3 game against the New York Giants, although he will need to be medically cleared. Reid would not speculate on a potential replacement, but he noted QB Vince Young (hamstring) is getting close after being inactive in the first two games. QB Mike Kafka replaced Vick Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned here for updates on Vick's Week 3 status, but prepare for the decent possibility of him missing action. Kafka moved the ball well on occasion in Week 2, but neither he nor Young would be a promising fantasy play for Week 3, even against a somewhat vulnerable New York Giants D. A Vick absence hurts the potential of DeSean Jackson, who might be slowed further by a forearm injury.

Eagles | Confident in Mike Kafka as backup QB

Tue, 31 May 2011 07:40:15 -0700

The Philadelphia Eagles appear committed to trading QB Kevin Kolb when the lockout ends, and head coach Andy Reid said recently that he has enough faith in QB Mike Kafka to hand him the backup job. "I always have confidence in myself. But if Coach says that, it's great," Kafka said. "I'm willing and waiting to take that next step to be that guy." Kafka may have to wait another year, however. If the Eagles do indeed trade Kolb, they may prefer to add a veteran instead of promoting Kafka, who didn't take a single snap last season. There's also the possibility that the Eagles won't be able to deal Kolb.
