Jets | Eric Decker could still go

Fri, 07 Apr 2017 07:58:34 -0700

Updating previous reports, New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder, hip) still has a large possibility of being with another team next season, in the opinion of beat writer Manish Mehta.

Fantasy Tip: Decker is now 30 years old, and he's coming off injuries to his shoulder and hip, and he had a knee injury late in 2015. He's still a reliable target, but his upside is fizzling. He's a WR4 for now.

Jets | Eric Decker likely to survive roster purge?

Sat, 18 Mar 2017 17:36:53 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) is expected to get a chance to complete his rehab from hip and shoulder surgeries before the Jets decide whether to keep or release him, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Fantasy Tip: With all the lives they've made this offseason, the Jets are not hurting for salary cap room. New York may be doing himself a favor by keeping Decker, if only to make it a bit easier for whatever quarterback it decides to settle on in 2017. Given the current state of the Jets, Decker will be hard-pressed to maintain WR3 value this season.

Jets | Eric Decker able to do some running

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 15:06:42 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) is able to run straight ahead and should be able to participate in the non-contact organized team activities this offseason, according to general manager Mike Maccagnan. Maccagnan said he believes Decker will be ready for the start of the 2017 season.

Fantasy Tip: Decker underwent two surgeries during the regular season and could be on the roster bubble once he recovers from the surgeries because of his salary. Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation during the offseason to see if he suffers any setbacks. Decker can be a No. 2 receiver when he is healthy but probably would be a better option as a No. 3 receiver.

Jets | Eric Decker on the chopping block

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 21:05:22 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) could be cut this offseason whenever he passes his physical, according to beat writer Manish Mehta.

Fantasy Tip: Brandon Marshall has already been released. If Decker also leaves, Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson could both be fantasy starters in 2017.

Jets | Eric Decker likely to miss camp

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 20:17:22 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) has a "good chance" of missing training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Decker has WR2 potential when healthy, but you may want to prepare for a slow start to the season as he works his way back from multiple injuries.

Jets | Eric Decker a candidate to rework deal

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 12:08:17 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) could be asked to restructure his contract this offseason because he is scheduled to count $8.75 million against the salary cap in 2017 and is coming off hip and shoulder injuries.

Fantasy Tip: Decker was limited to three games because of his injuries but was able to post 194 yards and two touchdowns in those games. He should be back with the Jets in 2017, but his value will depend on the team's quarterback. He probably should be considered a No. 3 receiver with the potential to be a No. 2 receiver.

Jets | Eric Decker has shoulder surgery

Tue, 15 Nov 2016 07:11:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is having surgery on his shoulder to repair a torn rotator cuff Tuesday, Nov. 15. Recovery time is eight months, which ends right before training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Decker also had major hip surgery last month, and he'll be coming off two major surgeries at age 30. He'll be an extreme buyer-beware option at receiver next season.

Jets | Eric Decker unconcerned about 2017

Sat, 22 Oct 2016 10:30:52 -0700

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) is not worried about missing any regular-season games next season despite needing surgery on his hip and shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Decker is on crutches after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum on his hip, which has delayed the surgery he was originally supposed to have on his shoulder. He expects an eight-month recovery from his shoulder surgery once he is able to have surgery on it, which will certainly put his availability for the start of training camp in jeopardy if it doesn't happen soon. He's obviously a strong WR2 when healthy, but there are too many questions with his health right now to forecast where he will stand next year.

Jets | More on Eric Decker surgery

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 05:45:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Eric Decker (hip, shoulder) had a torn labrum and a lesion in his left hip repaired Tuesday, Oct. 18. Once he's off crutches, he'll have the shoulder surgery, but it's unclear how long that will take. The shoulder surgery will require eight months of recovery, which puts his status for the beginning of the 2017 season up in the air.

Fantasy Tip: Decker will likely be a boom-or-bust WR3 in drafts next season. However, a lot will depend on who is under center for the Jets. There is a lot to dislike about his draft stock after two major surgeries to recover from.
