Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he will be naming a starting quarterback before the start of training camp because he believes it is easier for a team to get behind one quarterback than have a competition. QB Drew Stanton is expected to have an early edge over QBs John Skelton and Brian Hoyer because he worked in Arians' offense this season.
Fantasy Tip: Whichever quarterback is named the starter in Arizona likely will not be very fantasy relevant because they will play behind a shaky offensive line. Stanton, Hoyer and Skelton probably will be considered No. 3 fantasy quarterback if they win the job with the chance to be a low-end No 2 quarterback.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he is keeping an open mind when it comes to the quarterbacks on the team's roster. Arians will give QBs Kevin Kolb, John Skelton and Ryan Lindley an opportunity to earn the starting job; however, he is not opposed to an outside candidate earning the nod as well. "I'm sure that (general manager) Steve (Keim) and (vice president of player personnel) Jason (Licht) are going to be looking behind door number two," Arians said. "If door number two is a better option, we'll go to door number two." Arians said he's looking forward to meeting with all three quarterbacks but isn't in a rush to evaluate their chances at this point.

"I told you guys that my main goal was to just get better every week," Lindley said. "I knew the chips were going to fall as they were. I don't think anybody can predict the future, so I didn't spend much time doing that. I just made sure if it ever happened, I was ready and I got better every week."
Tue, 20 Nov 2012 11:55:35 -0800
Arizona Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley is likely to remain the starter until QB Kevin Kolb (ribs) is able to return. "Statistically, obviously, there's nothing to write home about," head coach Ken Whisenhunt said of the rookie. "But he did a nice job I thought in a lot of areas — managing the game, handling the noise, doing some of the things he needed to do in protection. He looked comfortable in the pocket, made some good throws." Whisenhunt said he's currently undecided on the starting quarterback for Week 12, but he pulled QB John Skelton out of the Week 11 contest after he missed a wide open WR Larry Fitzgerald in the end zone and said players needed to be held accountable for mistakes.
