Ravens | Dennis Pitta waived/injured |
Wed, 07 Jun 2017 10:20:54 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) was waived/injured Wednesday, June 7.
Fantasy Tip: It's been a rough career of injuries for Pitta, and it's likely a career that is now over. Benjamin Watson, Crockett Gillmore and Maxx Williams will assume tight end duties with Pitta gone. Watson will start, but he's a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

Fri, 02 Jun 2017 15:43:42 -0700
Updating an ongoing story, Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) has been diagnosed with a dislocated hip and is expected to undergo surgery at some point, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Pitta likely will miss at least the 2017 season and may have to retire because of the injury. Benjamin Watson and Maxx Williams probably will compete for the starting tight end job during training camp and the winner could be a No. 2 tight end in some leagues.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta's career could be over |
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 13:15:54 -0700
Updating a previous report, the Baltimore Ravens fear that TE Dennis Pitta (hip) fractured and dislocated his hip for the third time in the last four years. His career likely will be over if the diagnosis is confirmed.
Fantasy Tip: Pitta has had problems with his hips for years and probably will not be able to come back from this latest injury. Benjamin Watson and Maxx Williams likely are the two top candidates to start at tight end for the Ravens and could both be No. 2 fantasy tight ends.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta suffers another hip injury |
Fri, 02 Jun 2017 12:28:55 -0700
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) reinjured his hip during OTAs on Friday, June 2, and is undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury, according to general manager Ozzie Newsome. "This is incredibly disappointing, obviously for Dennis, and for the Ravens," Newsome said in a statement.
Fantasy Tip: It was reportedly a non-contact injury and Pitta could not put any weight on his leg when trying to get up. This is at least his third hip injury and the tone of Newsome's statement suggests they are not optimistic about it. No. 2 tight end Benjamin Watson is recovering from a torn Achilles', while Maxx Williams underwent offseason knee surgery. As a result, Gary Barnidge may be getting a call very soon.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta takes pay cut |
Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:50:58 -0700
Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta took a $2.5 million pay cut over the next two seasons. He will make $2.5 million in base salary in 2017 along with a $500,000 roster bonus. He was previously scheduled to earn $5.5 million. This gives Baltimore an additional $2.5 million in cap space in 2017 and 2018.
Fantasy Tip: Pitta led all tight ends with 86 catches last year. Coming off of two serious hip injuries with his career in limbo, it was an outstanding feat. His 729 yards not withstanding, his 8.5 yards per catch and two touchdowns left a lot to be desired. He's a low-end TE1 in standard formats, but he'll receive a slight boost in PPR leagues entering his age-32 season.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta reworks deal |
Fri, 10 Mar 2017 14:46:08 -0800
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta will remain with the team after he agreed to restructure his contract, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Pitta had a solid 2016 season and finished with 729 yards and two touchdowns. He likely will be the starting tight end for the Ravens and should receive a solid amount of targets in the passing game. Pitta should be considered a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta asked to take pay cut |
Wed, 08 Mar 2017 11:28:11 -0800
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta has been asked to take a pay cut so the team can create salary cap space. Nothing between the two sides is imminent at this point.
Fantasy Tip: Pitta could be released if he refuses to take a pay cut, so owners will need to monitor the situation. He is coming off a solid 2016 season and has a good chance to start for a team next season. He probably should be considered a No. 2 fantasy tight end at this point.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta could become free agent |
Wed, 22 Feb 2017 19:30:10 -0800
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta is due to make $5.5 million in each of the last two years of his contract, but there is speculation the team may not want to pay him that much despite the fact he is coming off a career-high 86-catch season, according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: Pitta led all tight ends in receptions in 2016, but he is set to enter his age-32 season and the Ravens could use more cap room, so a parting of ways is likely if he balks at a pay cut. Pitta has long been Joe Flacco's most trusted option, so it's hard to imagine him coming anywhere close to matching last year's production with another team. If he is released, he's a good bet for TE2 production next season at best, even if he can stay healthy.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta may be asked to rework deal |
Wed, 18 Jan 2017 15:16:46 -0800
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta may be asked to restructure his contract this offseason because of his high salary cap figure for 2017.
Fantasy Tip: Pitta missed most of the 2014 season and all of the 2015 season because of hip injuries but was able to finish this season with 86 catches for 729 yards and two touchdowns. There is a good chance that he will stay with the Ravens and can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end or a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy drafts.
