Carolina Panthers WRs Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell are locked in at the top two spots. Ted Ginn Jr. has stood out during minicamp, catching several deep passes from Cam Newton. Armanti Edwards looks more comfortable playing the position. Ginn and Edwards will compete with Kealoha Pilares, Joe Adams and David Gettis for roster spots and reps.
Fantasy Tip: It's hard to trust Ginn finally developing into a full-fledged catcher, but there's big-play potential here in what could be a surprisingly productive passing system. Greg Olsen's presence limits the availability of secondary targets, but waiver-wire scroungers in deep leagues will watch this play out during the season.

Carolina Panthers WR Armanti Edwards has a salary cap figure of just $753,000 for 2013, but until his 69-yard punt return in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, he hadn't done much in his first three years in the league. He is a candidate to be cut during the offseason.

Carolina Panthers WR Armanti Edwards had just one catch in Week 9 against the Washington Redskins, but it was good for an 82-yard gain to lead the team in receiving yardage for the game. TE Greg Olsen checked in with a team-high five catches for 48 yards, while TE Gary Barnidge managed a 13-yard reception. WR Louis Murphy barely made the stat sheet with a four-yard catch on his only grab.

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said the team was hoping WR Brandon LaFell (concussion) could go through some work Friday, Nov. 2, but he didn't work out as the team had hoped. LaFell is listed as doubtful for Week 9 against the Washington Redskins. "It doesn't (look good for LaFell)," Rivera said. "We'll see how he is tomorrow, and then we'll go from there."
Wide receivers Louis Murphy, Kealoha Pilares and Armanti Edwards would move up the depth chart in Week 9 if LaFell does not play, and the team could look to add either WR David Gettis (hamstring) or rookie Joe Adams to the rotation, too. Gettis is currently on the team's PUP.
