Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 1, after missing the first two practices of training camp because of a family issue.
Fantasy Tip: Quarless is expected to compete for the starting tight end job during training camp. He recorded only 323 receiving yards last season and had three touchdowns. Quarless likely should be avoided in drafts this season since he probably will not have a big role in the offense.
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 07:09:15 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless was absent from training camp again Friday, July 31, while he tends to a family matter.
Fantasy Tip: Quarless has value in 2015 as a TE2 or an occasional matchup play best reserved for FantasyScore daily action.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:15:41 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless has not reported to training camp, and the Packers still don't know when he will do so. Head coach Mike McCarthy said Quarless is dealing with a difficult family situation and that he'll be gone as long as he needs to be. Quarless was arrested and charged earlier this month for firing a gun, but that seems to be unrelated to his current situation.
Fantasy Tip: Until Quarless reports, Richard Rodgers should see plenty of time with the first team. Rodgers and Quarless could end up forming a committee at tight end. Neither are worth selecting as your starting fantasy tight end.
Tue, 14 Jul 2015 11:26:29 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless probably won't be imprisoned since he was charged with a misdemeanor and not a felony. Quarless was arrested for discharging a firearm in public, but he said it was an act caused by drunken stupidity, not violence.
Fantasy Tip: It's unclear who will be the starting tight end between Quarless and Richard Rodgers at this point. Rodgers is expected to have an increased role and Quarless may be giving him the opportunity for more playing time with his off-field actions.
Tue, 07 Jul 2015 09:57:16 -0700
Green Bay Packers TEs Richard Rodgers and Andrew Quarless are expected to compete for the starting tight end job this year. Quarless caught 29 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns in 2014. However, he could be subject to discipline under the league's personal conduct policy after being arrested over the weekend for discharging a firearm in public.
Fantasy Tip: Rodgers played fewer snaps than Quarless and didn't produce as much, but those roles could be reversed in 2015, especially after Quarless' arrest this past weekend. However, neither are worth drafting in standard fantasy leagues.
Mon, 06 Jul 2015 16:27:40 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless will not be released at this time even though he was arrested this past weekend for discharging a firearm in public, according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: Quarless will be competing for the starting tight end job during training camp but could be on the roster bubble if he struggles. Quarless has only 323 yards and three touchdowns last season and probably should not be an option in fantasy leagues even if he wins the starting job.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 10:41:57 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless was arrested early Saturday, July 4, for allegedly firing a gun into the ground, according to police. Quarless supposedly was involved in a fight and fled the scene, but was apprehended. The tight end has been charged with discharging a firearm in public.
Fantasy Tip: Quarless was slated to be the Packers' starting tight end. He had recently been lauded by Aaron Rodgers for his performance this offseason. Time will tell how this situation pans out, but it could be the first step in giving Richard Rodgers an added boost.
Wed, 01 Jul 2015 13:53:30 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rodgers could see more playing time in 2015, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. Rodgers played 528 snaps, while fellow TE Andrew Quarless played 695 snaps. Demovsky said he wouldn't be surprised if those numbers reversed this season.
Fantasy Tip: Rodgers may see an increased role, but there's still Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams to account for, not to mention another tight end in Quarless. There are a lot of mouths to feed in Green Bay, and Rodgers will feed his receivers first. Neither Rodgers nor Quarless are starter worthy.
Tue, 16 Jun 2015 11:40:27 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless has made strides this offseason, according to QB Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers said he thought something clicked for Quarless late last season and he's ready to take the next step.
Fantasy Tip: Quarless has had a pretty disappointing career so far, but it's promising that Rodgers has singled him out as someone who has impressed this offseason. Even if Quarless starts for the Packers, which he is expected to, he's not reliable enough to be drafted as a starting fantasy tight end.
Thu, 16 Apr 2015 11:10:46 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless said he has been working on improving his game this offseason and believes he can be a productive part of the offense. "I consider myself the top echelon of tight ends," Quarless said. "That's really where I see myself and that's really where I'm trying to take it. A couple other guys like (Rob Gronkowski) and a couple guys who are up there. I put myself in that bracket. That's definitely where I'm training to be."
Fantasy Tip: Quarless has been a solid tight end for the Packers over the last two seasons but was not a great fantasy option. Quarless likely will be the starter at the position next season but probably will be more than a No. 2 tight end on teams.
Sat, 20 Sep 2014 06:01:49 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless has been fined $8,268 for his involvement in an altercation during the team's Week 2 game.
Sat, 16 Aug 2014 13:36:57 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rodgers started the team's second preseason game.
Fantasy Tip: He's battling Andrew Quarless for the starting spot. Both would be weak-TE2 options.
Sat, 12 Jul 2014 08:47:36 -0700
Green Bay Packers tight ends coach Jerry Fontenot said the competition for the starting tight end job will be wide open when training camp starts. "I think we are pretty wide open at this point," Fontenot said. "I think guys have shown some progress, and those guys warrant a much bigger look. And I think once we get to training camp, we'll have an idea of a rotation, at least, and giving guys reps just to make sure they're ready to start the season." TE Andrew Quarless may be the safest option to start at this point, but TE Richard Rodgers could start in the near future because of his performance during offseason workouts.
Thu, 10 Jul 2014 14:34:53 -0700
The injury that caused Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless (undisclosed) to miss the offseason workouts is not considered serious.
Sat, 21 Jun 2014 08:51:04 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rodgers could be the leading candidate for the starting tight end job entering training camp based on offseason workouts. Rodgers will show he can be an effective blocker if he wants to win the starting job. Rodgers received more reps during the offseason workouts, because TE Andrew Quarless (undisclosed) did not participate at all.
Wed, 18 Jun 2014 11:53:58 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless (undisclosed) has not practiced yet this offseason. He missed all of the 2012 season with a knee injury but played in every game in 2013.
Fantasy Tip: Quarless is the team's top tight end right now with Jermichael Finley now gone. If he can get healthy and stay healthy, he's a tight end sleeper candidate this season.
Fri, 04 Apr 2014 18:32:25 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless is considered the leading candidate to be the starting tight end in 2014 but could be beaten out by another player for the job.
Thu, 13 Mar 2014 14:19:46 -0700
Updating a previous story, Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless will receive $3 million over two years, with a $350,000 signing bonus. His 2014 base salary is $800,000, and he'll be paid $1.3 million in base money for 2015. Quarless can earn $200,000 in per-game roster bonuses and $75,000 in workout bonus money.
Thu, 13 Mar 2014 11:33:25 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless could have a full-time role as the starting tight end if the team doesn't re-sign TE Jermichael Finley. Quarless drew interest from seven other teams on the open market before re-signing with the Packers. Quarless posted career highs in catches (32), yards (312) and touchdowns (two) in 2013 and became the starter after Finley was injured Oct. 20.
Fantasy Tip: Finley is probably a long shot to return, but Green Bay has other options on the free-agent market, most notably Owen Daniels. If Quarless winds up being their starting tight end, he won't be a bad option as a TE2.

Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless will start the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears Monday, Nov. 4, in place of the injured TE Jermichael Finley (spine).
Tue, 22 Oct 2013 11:51:25 -0700
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (spine) is expected to be released from the hospital within the next 24 hours and he'll likely miss at least four to six weeks, according to sources. Finley isn't likely to need surgery, and he should be able to resume his career. He could visit with more neurosurgeons and specialists regarding his spine injury. Doctors think his injury was caused by extreme torque and not by spinal compression. There is still a possibility that the Packers place Finley on season-ending Injured Reserve if they don't want to risk bringing him back this season.
Fantasy Tip: With an injury this severe, there are no guarantees that Finley will return at all this season. If you need the roster space to add tight end depth, you may need to cut bait on Finley. Andrew Quarless will step up in Finley's place and could be a decent backup option in this offense.
Fri, 20 Sep 2013 00:31:43 -0700
If Green Bay Packers FB John Kuhn (hamstring) can't play, Packers coach Mike McCarthy will use tight ends as fill-ins at fullback, particularly TE Andrew Quarless.

Sun, 20 Jan 2013 13:07:30 -0800
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless (knee) is expected to compete for the starting tight end job next season even if TE Jermichael Finley remains with the team.
Mon, 17 Dec 2012 11:17:23 -0800
The Green Bay Packers have plenty of tight ends returning next season, which will make TE Jermichael Finley expendable. TEs Brandon Bostick, Andrew Quarless, Tom Crabtree, Ryan Taylor and DJ Williams will all be back. Quarless and Williams are much more effective blockers than Finley, too, and head coach Mike McCarthy is hoping for a more formidable running game in 2013. Scouts say Finley still is impressive and is able to stretch the field, but he doesn't put fear in opposing defenses like he once did. "But I didn't see him like a couple years ago where you worried about him all the time," one personnel director said. "I don't see that mismatch ability like I used to. Drops. Inconsistent routes. Not disciplined."
Other scouts note his inconsistency if he knows he's not being involved in the offense. Scouts see lack of flexibility with Finley, and one theory is that the stiffness in his hips and knees caused him to drop a large amount of passes. Finley has struggled to sink his hips and make sharp cuts to get open. "His routes aren't polished to that level," one scout said. "If you run a great route, you get open, but that doesn't seem to matter to him. He's playing more like he's on the playground."
