Tue, 30 Apr 2013 16:52:23 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles recalled P Zach Clark from the minors Tuesday, April 30, and optioned SP Zach Britton to the minors in a corresponding move.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 08:18:42 -0700 Baltimore Orioles minor league SP Zach Britton appears likely to start against the Seattle Mariners Monday, April 29, because SP Freddy Garcia is starting for Triple-A Norfolk Sunday, April 28.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 11:38:43 -0700 Baltimore Orioles SP Zach Britton is a candidate to start Monday, April 29, against the Seattle Mariners. Fantasy Tip: Poor health has kept Britton off the mound for most of his career. Now that he's healthy, he could work his way into the fifth spot in the rotation, but that's to be determined. Britton induces plenty of ground balls, but he's had trouble with command in the past. Consider him in AL-only leagues, but he'll have to win a job to be worth a look in mixed leagues.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 15:30:21 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles recalled SP Zach Britton from the minors Thursday, April 25.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 01:48:45 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles will need a starting pitcher for the Wednesday, April 24, finale against the Toronto Blue Jays, thanks in part to a rainout and other adjustments. SP Freddy Garcia appears to be the favorite thanks to a contract clause where he can opt out after five minor-league starts if there is no chance he will be promoted to the parent club. Other candidates include SP's Zach Britton and Josh Stinson.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 14:37:42 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles don't plan to send SP Jake Arrieta to a bullpen role in the minors, and he'll start again for Triple-A Norfolk Friday, April 26. The team won't use a reliever for Arrieta's spot in the rotation Wednesday, April 24. SPs Zach Britton, Freddy Garcia and Josh Stinson are candidates to take the vacant rotation spot. Garcia is the only one not on the 40-man roster, and he has an opt-out clause in his contract. SP Jair Jurrjens started in the minors Sunday, April 21, so he's not an option. Fantasy Tip: Britton, Garcia and Stinson should only be considered if you're desperate in AL-only leagues. Arrieta could be brought back up to get another shot in the starting rotation at some point, but he's not worth owning for the time being.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 14:11:00 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles could recall SP Zach Britton from Triple-A Norfolk to start Wednesday, April 24. SPs Jason Hammel and Wei-Yin Chen were scheduled to start in a doubleheader Saturday, April 20, and manager Buck Showalter does not want either to pitch on short rest.
Sun, 31 Mar 2013 20:59:52 -0700 Baltimore Orioles Ps Jake Arrieta (blister), Zach Britton (blister) and Kevin Gausman (blister) each developed blisters on their pitching hand Sunday, March 31. Gausman was shut down as a precaution, while Arrieta stuck with fastballs and changeups to alleviate pressure on the inside of his middle finger where the blister formed. Britton's blister popped, and he applied Super Glue to his thumb to keep pitching.
Sat, 23 Mar 2013 11:07:27 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles have optioned SP Zach Britton and INFs Yamaico Navarro and Jonathan Schoop to Triple-A Norfolk. They have also assigned P Daniel McCutchen to minor league camp.
Sat, 09 Mar 2013 02:11:16 -0800 The Baltimore Orioles have signed Ps Jake Arrieta, Mike Belfiore, Zach Britton, Zach Clark, Miguel Gonzalez, Steven Johnson, T.J. McFarland, Pedro Strop and Chris Tillman, INFs Ryan Flaherty, Manny Machado, Yamaico Navarro, Jonathan Schoop and Danny Valencia, OFs Xavier Avery and L.J. Hoes and C Luis Exposito to one-year contracts.
