Miami Marlins 3B Ed Lucas will get most of the starts at shortstop while SS Adeiny Hechavarria (triceps) is on the 15-day disabled list. INF Donovan Solano could also get one or two starts at the position.

The Miami Marlins placed OF Christian Yelich (back) on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain Monday, June 16, and optioned 2B Donovan Solano to Triple-A New Orleans. Also, SP Andrew Heaney and Anthony DeSclafani, OF Jake Marisnick and INF Justin Bour have been recalled from the minors. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) was moved to the 15-day DL.
Fantasy Tip: With Yelich sidelined, the Fish have decided to call up two of the their top prospects in Andrew Heaney and Jake Marisnick. Heaney should be expected to have a starting rotation spot with Randy Wolf being cut. Add Heaney immediately in all formats. Marisnick will likely fill in in center in place of Yelich. Marisnick has above average hitting skills across the board, including raw power and plus speed. Marisnick should be owned in NL-only and deep mixed formats, but keep in mind that his stay could be short.

Miami Marlins 2B Rafael Furcal is leading off and starting at second base Friday, June 13, in his first game back from the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Furcal, given his age and injury history, probably will mix in at second base with Donovan Solano. Furcal is a shell of his former self, so don't expect much. He's probably only an NL-only option.

Miami Marlins 2B Donovan Solano is making his third straight start. Manager Mike Redmond likes the solid defense that Solano provides, and 2B Derek Dietrich is "a little bit out of his comfort zone after being hit in the face in spring training."

Miami Marlins 3B Ed Lucas' X-rays showed a non-displaced fracture in his left hand.
Fantasy Tip: The Fish will recall Donovan Solano to replace Lucas on the roster as the utility infielder.

The Miami Marlins optioned OF Jake Marisnick and 2B Donovan Solano to Triple-A New Orleans. SS Austin Nola, OF Matt Angle, SS Juan Diaz, RP Chris Hatcher and RP Henry Rodriguez were reassigned to minor-league camp.

Miami Marlins OF Reed Johnson has been informed that he will make the team. 3B Ed Lucas, 2Bs Donovan Solano and Derek Dietrich and OF Brian Bogusevic are in competition for the last one or two spots.

Miami Marlins 2B Rafael Furcal (hamstring) would like to start the year on the disabled list if he's not 100 percent by opening day. He went 2-for-4 with two singles in a minor league game Monday, March 24, but wasn't running at full speed on the bases. It appears more likely that he'll open on the DL, but he could return as soon as April 5. INFs Derek Dietrich, Ed Lucas, Donovan Solano and Jeff Baker can fill in for Furcal at second base.
Fantasy Tip: Are you surprised by Furcal's injury this early in the season? You shouldn't be. The Marlins will likely have to mix and match at the keystone if Furcal continues to be bothered by injuries. This position should be ignored for fantasy purposes in Miami.

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich, 2B Donovan Solano and 3B Ed Lucas are candidates to start at second base if 2B Rafael Furcal (hamstring) is not ready for the regular season.

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich (nose) fractured his nose Thursday, March 20, after he took a groundball to the face during the spring game. X-rays showed a small fracture on the bridge of his nose, and he also suffered a large bruise and cuts around his left eye. Dietrich said he's day-to-day. "It's nothing serious," Dietrich said. "I think I can get back in the lineup pretty soon. I got lucky. Right now I feel fine as far as my head. We'll ice it up today and see where we're at tomorrow."
Fantasy Tip: Dietrich had been filling in at the keystone with Rafael Furcal (hamstring) dinged up. Donovan Solano can also play second base, but Furcal is still expected to be the starter when he's healthy. You can ignore all of these options in most leagues.
