Bills | Fred Jackson, C.J. Spiller expected to share carries

Mon, 16 Jan 2012 12:22:19 -0800

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey indicated RBs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller likely will share carries next season and neither will get a majority of the carries. "I wouldn't call it 50-50, but it's closer to 50-50 than it ever has been because (Spiller's) more confident and we have more confidence in him having experience now," said Gailey. "To me it's a win-win for everybody except them individually. It's a win-win for the team. It's a win-win for setting up game plans and for us making it through the season healthy. It's not a win-win for each of them individually because neither one of them will get the ball as much as they want to."

I feel like I have been competing. I feel like I have done everything I can. It's been like that for two or three years, and nothing has changed." He could ask for a trade if the Bills hand his job to Spiller. "If that's an avenue I have to take, I would definitely be open to it," Jackson said.

Bills | Chan Gailey discusses C.J. Spiller

Thu, 24 Feb 2011 08:25:00 -0800

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said during the NFL Scouting Combine Thursday, Feb. 24, that he will do a better job of incorporating RB C.J. Spiller in the offense in 2011, according to Aaron Wilson, of NationalFootballPost.com. Gailey said Spiller's rookie campaign did not go according to plan. "It didn't work out like everybody planned," Gailey said. "He planned. I planned. Any fan out there planned. It didn't work out like any of us planned. I still think he's going to be a very good to great player for the Buffalo Bills. There's no question in my mind about that. I think I'll do a better job this year of creating ways to move him more. When you're establishing what you're trying to get done offensively, you have a hard time deviating too much to do things for one guy to create things for one guy. We were in the process of evaluating everybody and trying to create things for everybody. It was a getting-to-know-you year."

Thu, 23 Dec 2010 09:34:40 -0800

Bills | C.J. Spiller active in Week 13

Sun, 05 Dec 2010 09:01:35 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (hamstring) is active in Week 13, reports Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com.

Fantasy Tip: Spiller is expected to be limited in his return to action, and he didn't touch it enough to warrant a start before he was hurt because Fred Jackson was the lead horse. And Spiller faces the Minnesota Vikings, a defense that gives up plenty of receptions to the position but is otherwise tough on running backs.
