Bills | C.J. Spiller receives most carries

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 17:32:36 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller received a team-high 15 carries in Week 1. He finished with 15 carries for 53 yards and had three catches for 11 yards.

Fantasy Tip: The fact Spiller received the most carries is an encouraging sign, and if he continues to receive around 20 touches per game, he should have a strong season. He will take up 12.8% of your cap ($6,400) on FantasyScore in Week 2, placing him 16th among running backs. Facing a Miami defense that is dealing with multiple injuries at the linebacker position, Spiller could make a solid play.

Bills | C.J. Spiller to return kicks

Thu, 04 Sep 2014 07:11:10 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller is the team's primary kickoff returner.

Fantasy Tip: Spiller has some enhanced value in leagues that reward for special teams play. However, there is increased risk of injury and the potential for him to need a breather after returning a kickoff. Spiller is a $7,100 running back on FantasyScore this weekend against the Chicago Bears, and there are probably better values.

Bills | Cordy Glenn cleared

Mon, 18 Aug 2014 15:12:54 -0700

Buffalo Bills OT Cordy Glenn (illness) has been cleared to participate in team drills, according to head coach Doug Marrone. The team will see how he performs during practice before deciding if he will play in the third preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Glenn has miss most of training camp because of an undisclosed illness but has time to prepare for the start of the season. His presence on the offensive line should help the values of EJ Manuel, C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson, because he is a Pro Bowl player.

Bills | C.J. Spiller not being contacted by other teams

Wed, 13 Aug 2014 15:10:28 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller has not been talked about with other teams, according to general manager Doug Whaley. "Again, no one, I'll tell you guys and you know I'm a straight shooter. We have not been contacted by any teams. I can probably see where people see our depth at running back and try to connect the dots with teams that don't have depth, but, again, nobody has contacted us," Whalen said.

Fantasy Tip: There was much excitement over Spiller leading up to last season, but he wound up being a huge disappointment after an ankle injury in Week 4 that he never really recovered from. Now, he's fully healthy again, but with Fred Jackson likely to cut into his touches, he's no longer a top-tier consideration at running back.

Bills | Doug Marrone talks running backs

Thu, 07 Aug 2014 13:29:27 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson will likely see the bulk of the action in Buffalo's backfield this year, barring any roster changes. Head coach Doug Marrone recently frowned upon the idea of utilizing three running backs.

Fantasy Tip: Spiller has recently been involved in trade rumors, though those rumors lack substance. Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon seem to be headed for not much more than backup roles.

Bills | C.J. Spiller focused despite rumors

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 15:31:59 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller is staying focused on football despite being the subject of trade rumors. Spiller said he is excited to be with the Bills and hopes a deal can get worked out.

Fantasy Tip: Buffalo has one of the more crowded backfields in the league with Spiller, Fred Jackson, Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon. For now, Spiller should still be considered an RB2, though that could obviously change if he is traded.

Bills | More touches for C.J. Spiller

Tue, 15 Jul 2014 19:02:37 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller will likely touch the ball 20 times per game if the offense is operating efficiently, according to BuffaloBills.com.

Fantasy Tip: With his speed and big-play ability, Spiller could do some serious damage with 20 touches. However, he has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, and increasing his usage probably won't help in that regard. Spiller has RB1 upside, but draft him as an RB2 because of the injury concerns.

Bills | C.J. Spiller more comfortable with running game

Mon, 14 Jul 2014 11:17:46 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller recently said there's a noticeable difference in the team's running game with a year of experience under the new offensive system. At the same time, Spiller admitted there's still work to be done before the season starts.

Fantasy Tip: Spiller will be splitting time with Fred Jackson as usual this season, but he's expected to be used more after recovering from a nagging ankle injury that hindered him for the better part of the 2013 season. Spiller should be considered an RB2 with added value in PPR leagues.
