Miami Dolphins OG Ray Feinga has been working as the backup left tackle in the team's voluntary veteran workouts with OG John Jerry currently working as the starting right guard. Meanwhile, OG Artis Hicks, an offseason addition, is working as a backup tackle.

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin isn't sure if OL John Jerry will line up as the right guard or right tackle. "That's a great question. We're not sure right now to be quite honest with you. We've kind of seen him at both spots. We've seen some film of him at both spots," Philbin said. "We got to find a home for him. We got to figure out where he can be most comfortable. Where he can be most effective and obviously he has to earn a spot."

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said Tuesday, Jan. 24. that he isn't sold on OG John Jerry becoming a full-time starter. Jerry has exhibited erratic play, practice habits and questionable conditioning over the past two seasons. "John has come a long way. He's got a long way to go, I'll tell you that," Ireland said. "I like John. We coach him here at the Senior Bowl. He was able to fill in at different places, from tackle to guard. He's got some role flexibility. He needs to get better. But he's got a chance."

Dolphins | Three reserve OLs to have chance in 2012

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said Tuesday, Jan. 24, that reserve linemen OG Nate Garner, OG John Jerry and OT Lydon Murtha (foot) might have a shot at starting jobs in 2012. "One of the big things we didn't have was Lydon Murtha this year," Ireland said. "He ended the 2010 season really strong, and I was looking forward to really seeing what he was going to become." Murtha missed the season after breaking his foot in the preseason.

Miami Dolphins OG John Jerry is looking to earn his spot back in the starting lineup in 2012. He filled in during the Week 15 game in place of the injured OT Jake Long (back). It was his first career start at left tackle. "The biggest thing about John is he's physical, and he likes to compete," interim coach Todd Bowles said Tuesday, Dec. 20. Jerry also played 40 sacks in Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles, and was the only offensive lineman to grade out positively.
