Thu, 06 Jan 2011 22:01:12 -0800 Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles DL Jeff Owens (knee) is not likely to play in 2011 because of the seriousness of his injuries and timing of his surgeries, reports Adam Caplan, of FOXSports.com. Owens underwent surgery to repair a left knee patella tendon as well as microfracture surgery Wednesday, Jan. 5, by renowned Dr. James Andrews. He is also scheduled to have surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament at a later date.

Reid added, "His quickness and balance seem very, very good. He really bought into (strength and conditioning trainer Barry Rubin's) off-season program. He worked like crazy, and you're seeing the results now. I'm happy for him, and obviously it makes us a better team if he continues to play like this." Laws is competing with DTs Antonio Dixon and Jeff Owens for two spots on the roster.
