Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 6, and is listed as probable for Week 14.
Fantasy Tip: McCluster could be a flex option for owners this week but could also stay on the bench if owners have a better option at wide receiver.

Tue, 29 Oct 2013 11:09:58 -0700
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster had a team-high seven catches for 67 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 8 win over the Cleveland Brown. He also had one rush for five yards. "As a player, you never know when it's going to be your day," said McCluster, who was targeted by QB Alex Smith a team-high 10 times. "You just have to be there when it's time. I was able to get started early and get some balls early." His 13 touches were a season high, and the team has been looking for someone to step up and help lighten the workload for RB Jamaal Charles. Smith thinks the team will use McCluster more in the second half of the season.
Fantasy Tip: With Dwayne Bowe being limited with an injury, McCluster stepped up last Sunday. Bowe has been a disappointment, and McCluster's jack-of-all-trades versatility could make him a valuable asset down the stretch, especially in point-per-reception leagues. Consider adding him as receiver depth in deeper formats.
Fri, 25 Oct 2013 13:18:39 -0700
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (groin) did not practice Friday, Oct. 25, and is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Andy Reid said Bowe will be a game-time decision Sunday. "It's day to day," Reid said. "We'll just see how he does. He's feeling a little bit better today than he did yesterday." Bowe was injured toward the end of practice Thursday, Oct. 24.
Fantasy Tip: Donnie Avery and Dexter McCluster will be used more often if Bowe doesn't play or is limited in any fashion on game day. Junior Hemingway could also receive the start if Bowe is sidelined.
Mon, 19 Aug 2013 09:20:36 -0700
The Kansas City Chiefs acquired WR A.J. Jenkins from the San Francisco 49ers Monday, Aug. 19, in exchange for WR Jonathan Baldwin.
Fantasy Tip: Jenkins wasn't impressing the Niners in his effort to replace Michael Crabtree (Achilles') as a main receiving threat opposite Anquan Boldin. He'll likely have less of a chance to make an impact in KC, but it is a new start, so don't overlook that opportunity. He'll have to compete with Donnie Avery and Dexter McCluster. Jenkins might be worth a late-round flier if he picks up the offense quickly and impresses in the final two weeks of the preseason.
Thu, 08 Aug 2013 08:47:23 -0700
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster is lining up everywhere eligible for a receiver in training camp. He has delivered some big plays. "One million, five hundred and thirty-six ways that I can get the football," McCluster said of his role in the Chiefs' offense. "This offense is wide-open. You get opportunities everywhere. It's a fun offense."
Sun, 04 Aug 2013 20:05:58 -0700
The Kansas City Chiefs released their first depth chart Sunday, Aug. 4, and WRs Donnie Avery and Dexter McCluster are listed as backups behind WRs Dwayne Bowe and Jonathan Baldwin. However, Avery and McCluster are frequently used in the slot or in multi-wideout formations.
Fantasy Tip: Avery and McCluster might have more fantasy potential than Baldwin, who has been rather disappointing over his first two NFL seasons. Still, each of the three should be considered WR4 or flex fantasy options.
Fri, 26 Jul 2013 19:39:37 -0700
When Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was with the Philadelphia Eagles, he was intrigued by WR Dexter McCluster during the 2010 NFL Draft. When Reid was hired in January, he immediately began making plans for McCluster. "He gives you a little flexibility," Reid said. "You can move him around a little. We'll use him here or there. I don't know where he couldn't line up, to be honest, as far as skill positions go. He's got that many tools in the belt."
Fantasy Tip: McCluster might see his stock climb on draft day in fantasy leagues. Realistically, he should only be worth a late-round pick based upon his previous production, but he could find himself going in the neighborhood of Rounds 12 through 14 if he has a strong training camp and preseason.
Fri, 26 Jul 2013 19:36:51 -0700
Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith connected with WR Dexter McCluster on a deep pass down the middle that was hauled in for a touchdown Friday, July 26, on the first play at training camp. More importantly than the big plays, head coach Andy Reid likes consistency, and Smith went several plays into practice before throwing his first incompletion. "There weren't a lot of balls on the ground, and it looked like the defense had people covered," Reid said.
Fantasy Tip: Smith is considered a Top 25 fantasy quarterback right now, and he should be treated as a low-end QB2 until he proves otherwise. His average draft position (ADP) has been around the 180th overall pick.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during the organized team activities Thursday, May 23, and was not able to return. Head coach Andy Reid said he believes McCluster will be able to return to practice next week.
Fantasy Tip: The injury does not sound serious, but McCluster has time to let the injury heal if he is not able to return next week. McCluster likely will be used as a slot receiver this season. He could be a late-round option in point-per-reception leagues, but he likely would be a waiver wire pickup in most leagues.
Thu, 16 May 2013 16:37:02 -0700
Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin appears to be the favorite for the No. 2 wide receiver job at this point but has not emerged as the dominant offseason player like he was last offseason. WRs Donnie Avery, Dexter McCluster and Terrance Copper are also expected to be candidates for the job.

"I like McCluster. I think he's a good football player and he has a role on this football team. I've got some things in mind for him," Reid said. "He's a unique talent because he can do a couple, three different things for you whether it's special teams as a returner or whether it's offense as a receiver or a running back."

That's the type of player I am and that's the type of player I've been. Now I have the opportunity to showcase what I can really do."

WRs Jamar Newsome and Devon Wylie caught just one pass with the most experience starter, WR Steve Breaston inactive because of head coach Romeo Crennel's decision. WR Jonathan Baldwin did not catch a single pass.

Thu, 13 Dec 2012 17:54:31 -0800
Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin will be one of the starters at wide receiver in Week 15 with WR Dwayne Bowe (ribs) out for the rest of the year. Head coach Romeo Crennel said WRs Steve Breaston and Devon Wylie could be starting opposite of Breaston, but Crennel is unsure which player that will be. "We're going to work during the week and we're going to see who will give us the best chance in the game, and then those guys will be active," Crennel said. Breaston has disappointed with only seven catches for 74 yards this, but he is the receiver with the most experience on the current roster. He has been inactive for four of the last five games, and Crennel indicated that Breaston doesn't seem to have a strong grasp of the offense. WR Dexter McCluster has the most catches on roster in his career other than Breaston, with 108.

Wed, 18 Jul 2012 09:41:43 -0700
Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster should still factor in the team's running game in 2012. McCluster is just too versatile, and new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll values game-specific matchups far too much. The Chiefs worked McCluster out of the slot during offseason workouts, but the position change appeared more exploratory than permanent.
