Chargers | Dexter McCluster limited Tuesday

Tue, 11 Oct 2016 16:21:02 -0700

San Diego Chargers RB Dexter McCluster (hamstring) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster is a great return man for the Chargers, but he doesn't do much else. Plus, he and his teammates are facing one of the tougher defenses in the league in the Denver Broncos. Leave McCluster on the bench even if he does play.

Chargers | Dexter McCluster to play in Week 3

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 21:35:13 -0700

San Diego Chargers RB Dexter McCluster is expected to be active for the Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He is familiar with the offense, as Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt was his head coach in Tennessee. "I've pretty much got the offense down," McCluster said Wednesday, Sept. 21. "Right now, it's just repetition, being on the same page as the quarterback. I sat in with the offensive line for a short period this morning, just to build that camaraderie, see how I fit in and let them know, 'Hey, I'm serious about what I'm doing'."

Fantasy Tip: McCluster will be looking to fill the void left by Danny Woodhead, who is out for the season. He is worth grabbing for depth at the RB spot in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, especially in PPR formats.

Chargers | Dexter McCluster signs with Chargers

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 12:47:39 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Dexter McCluster (Titans) signed with the San Diego Chargers Tuesday, Sept. 20. WR Isaiah Burse was subsequently waived.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster reunites with Ken Whisenhunt and will ideally take over Danny Woodhead's pass-catching role out of the backfield. McCluster is worth adding in PPR leagues, but don't expect him to produce close to Woodhead's output. Melvin Gordon is still the main man in San Diego and is an RB1 going forward.

Chargers | San Diego likely to sign Dexter McCluster

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 10:40:49 -0700

Free-agent RB Dexter McCluster (Titans) is expected to sign RB Dexter McCluster shortly to fill the pass-catching role out of the backfield left behind by the season-ending ACL injury to Danny Woodhead, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster is familiar with offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt from their days together in Tennessee. While McCluster isn't quite the well-rounded runner Woodhead is and won't be nearly as active at the goal line, he should be scooped up right away in most leagues. Given his familiarity with Whisenhunt's system, he should be able to contribute immediately and could have a Theo Riddick-like (circa 2015) impact in fantasy.

Jets | Dexter McCluster works out for Jets

Fri, 09 Sep 2016 16:10:00 -0700

Free-agent RB Dexter McCluster (Titans) worked out for the New York Jets Friday, Sept. 9, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster should be able to find a job at some point this season but would receive limited playing time if he signed with the Jets and would not be an attractive fantasy option.

Titans | Dexter McCluster let go

Fri, 02 Sep 2016 12:06:48 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster was waived Friday, Sept. 2, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster has a good chance to find another job and can be a change-of-pace back for a team. He likely will receive limited touches if he signs with another team and can be avoided in all fantasy drafts.

Titans | Dexter McCluster should return

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 10:53:10 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 11, because of an excused absence but is expected to return to the team later in the day.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster is expected to have a limited role on offense and probably will be used as more of a receiver out of the backfield. Owners on most leagues can avoid him during their drafts, but he could be a waiver wire option during the season in point-per-reception leagues.

Titans | Dexter McCluster will have opportunities

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 09:54:02 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster thinks he'll have plenty of opportunities to make noise in the backfield even with RBs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry ahead of him. "I think it will open up a lot more opportunities for me," said the 5-8, 170-pound McCluster. "When you have some big guys that are going to run downhill, that can cause more confusion to a lot of people. I hope (defenses) forget all about me and I can get open." McCluster has a versatile skill set and can also help on special teams returning punts.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster had 55 attempts for 247 yards and a touchdown for the Titans in 11 games last year, and he also added 31 catches for 260 yards and a TD. He probably won't see enough touches to be relevant in most traditional leagues, but he could be worth a flier as bench depth in PPR formats.

Titans | Dexter McCluster should have role

Sun, 15 May 2016 13:37:42 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster should have a role on offense in 2016 even though the team added RBs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry this offseason, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster probably will receive a handful of touches each game and may be more involved in the passing game. McCluster could have some value in point-per-reception leagues but probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Titans | Dexter McCluster to IR

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 08:28:29 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (wrist) was placed on Injured Reserve Wednesday, Dec. 16. Free-agent QB Mike Kafka (Vikings) and WR Nick Harwell (Cowboys) were signed to the practice squad.

Fantasy Tip: Antonio Andrews ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) and David Cobb ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) will continue to share the load. Neither are great FantasyScore options against the New England Patriots, but Andrews could be in the mix for a low-end grab.

Titans | Dexter McCluster broke wrist

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 14:19:21 -0800

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (wrist) is out for the rest of the season after breaking his wrist in Week 14, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Fantasy Tip: Antonio Andrews and David Cobb will have a bigger share of the workload in Tennessee's backfield now. Andrews is probably the more attractive option in point-per-reception formats as a flex option in deeper leagues or at FantasyScore. Cobb had just two carries in Week 14 and will be tough to rely on for the rest of his rookie season.

Titans | Dexter McCluster out for the season

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 13:56:06 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) is out for the season and is scheduled for surgery on his injured knee.

Fantasy Tip: Antonio Andrews and David Cobb should continue to split carries with McCluster out, but Andrews has a little more upside than Cobb. That being said, neither one is a reliable starter in seasonal leagues or on FantasyScore, so look elsewhere for your running backs this week.

Titans | Dexter McCluster probable to go

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 11:08:10 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Dexter McCluster (knee) practiced Friday, Dec. 11, and is probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is probably behind Antonio Andrews and David Cobb in the pecking order, and he's not a good FantasyScore grab against the New York Jets.

Titans | Dexter McCluster practices Thursday

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:18:21 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that McCluster ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) will be able to play against the New York Jets this week. McCluster has been involved in the rushing and passing game this season but is not a great fantasy option this week.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: TitansOnline.com

Titans | Dexter McCluster fully practices

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 14:48:37 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Tennessee's backfield is pretty crowded right now with Antonio Andrews, David Cobb and McCluster. Andrews still has the most upside, but McCluster has some value in PPR leagues. The New York Jets have been stout versus running backs this year, though, so avoid these guys in Week 14.

Titans | Dexter McCluster out for Week 13

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 10:55:28 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) didn't practice Friday, Dec. 4, and is out for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: The team said Antonio Andrews ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) and David Cobb ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) will share the load more than the team has all season. Cobb is a speculative play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on FantasyScore.

Titans | Dexter McCluster sits Thursday

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 13:13:26 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) hasn't practiced in nearly two full weeks now, so he's looking doubtful for Week 13. If McCluster sits, Antonio Andrews ($4,500, 9.0%) and David Cobb ($2,100, 4.2%) will receive the majority of touches out of Tennessee's backfield, but they aren't reliable starters for FantasyScore lineups.

Titans | Dexter McCluster sits out of practice

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 16:23:39 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) didn't practice at all last week, so he could be headed for another inactive status. If he sits again, Antonio Andrews ($4,500, 9.0%) and David Cobb ($2,100, 4.2%) should see the majority of touches out of Tennessee's backfield, but neither are reliable starting options.

Titans | Dexter McCluster out for Week 12

Fri, 27 Nov 2015 11:01:54 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) didn't practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Antonio Andrews ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) hasn't shown enough in recent weeks to use against the Oakland Raiders on FantasyScore.

Titans | Dexter McCluster does not practice

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 15:20:58 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster's ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) status is still uncertain, so owners should monitor his status over the next few days. Owners probably should avoid McCluster even if he is active. David Cobb ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) and Bishop Sankey ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) would see more time if McCluster is ruled out but are not great options.

Titans | Dexter McCluster sits out

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 15:24:36 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster is likely to miss at least another week with a sprained knee. Expect Antonio Andrews ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) to continue as the lead back as David Cobb ($2,300, 4.6% of cap). Against a vulnerable Oakland Raiders run defense, Andrews is certainly in play for a flex spot as a sleeper pick on FantasyScore. Cobb is more of a deep sleeper, as he didn't do much at all in his debut last week.

Titans | Dexter McCluster could miss time

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 08:21:18 -0800

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) is believed to have suffered a sprained knee Thursday, Nov. 19, and he could miss time. He'll have more tests, but the injury isn't believed to be major.

Fantasy Tip: This will open the door for David Cobb, who was in on eight plays Thursday night. Cobb is a handcuff to Antonio Andrews in traditional leagues.

Titans | Dexter McCluster questionable to return

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 19:36:23 -0800

Updating a previous story, Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) is questionable to return against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11 with a knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: If the injury turns out be a long-term issue, David Cobb and Antonio Andrews are the two players worth keeping an eye on.

Titans | Dexter McCluster exits game

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 19:31:04 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (knee) exited against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11, holding his right knee.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for an update on McCluster's condition. Antonio Andrews could see a boost in value if McCluster misses time.

Titans | Dexter McCluster scores in Week 10

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 19:00:40 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster ran three times for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 game against the Carolina Panthers, and he added four receptions for 27 yards.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster is a multi-threat option worth using in FantasyScore, even when facing a stout rush defense, since he can also be dangerous in the pass game.

Titans | Dexter McCluster good to go

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 11:32:55 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (ankle) practiced fully Friday, Nov. 13, and is probable for Week 10 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster's ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) role really doesn't heed much for FantasyScore usage right now.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: TitansOnline.com

Titans | Dexter McCluster limited Thursday

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 14:37:26 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 12, after sitting out the previous day.

Fantasy Tip: Now that David Cobb is in the picture in Tennessee's backfield, McCluster's ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) may get even cloudier. Cobb isn't expected to see much of a workload against the Carolina Panthers, but McCluster is strictly a deep sleeper in a flex spot on FantasyScore.

Titans | Dexter McCluster, Kendall Wright out

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 15:42:16 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (ankle) and WR Kendall Wright (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Wright ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) should be expected to miss at least another week with his knee ailment. Dorial Green-Beckham's ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) fantasy stock is on the rise with Wright out, but temper your expectations with him against the Carolina Panthers this weekend. It's unclear if McCluster's ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) injury will keep him out this weekend, but if he does play, he could be a deep sleeper on FantasyScore; the Panthers have been a top-10 PPR matchup for running backs the last three weeks.

Titans | Bishop Sankey doesn't play

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 07:32:01 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey didn't play any offensive snaps Sunday, Nov. 8, in Week 9. RB Antonio Andrews played 45 snaps, and RB Dexter McCluster played 29 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey can be dropped in all but dynasty formats right now with Antonio Andrews clearly the leader of the backfield.

Titans | Bishop Sankey losing playing time

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 13:55:00 -0800

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey did not get a carry for the second week in a row and fumbled a kickoff return during his team's 20-6 loss to the Houston Texans. He was replaced on returns by RB Dexter McCluster.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had a promising start to his career in the NFL but it has since become mired in mistakes. As of now, he has little FantasyScore value until his role changes.

Titans | Probable status for Dexter McCluster

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 14:54:34 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (illness) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 23, and is probable for Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) isn't seeing many touches on a weekly basis in a difficult-to-predict backfield, but this would be the week to consider him as a deep sleeper. The Falcons allow the most PPR fantasy points (35.9) to running backs per game.

Titans | Dexter McCluster back at practice

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 15:17:07 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster (illness) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should see his normal workload this week against the Atlanta Falcons after dealing with an injury earlier in the week. McCluster will see a limited amount of snaps during the game and is not the best option for owners.

Titans | Harry Douglas, Dexter McCluster sit out

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 15:21:30 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Harry Douglas (ribs) and RB Dexter McCluster (illness) both did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Douglas ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has a season high of just three catches and 24 yards in a single game this year. Avoid him. It's hard to rely on McCluster ($2,000) as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore in a tough-to-predict Tennessee backfield.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: NFL

Titans | Tennessee RBs do very little in loss

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 17:17:54 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster rushed eight times for 20 yards in the Week 5 loss against the Buffalo Bills. RB Antonio Andrews rushed seven times for just nine yards, but he had a touchdown while added three catches for a team-high 45 yards. RB Bishop Sankey also ran seven times for 20 yards with three grabs for 23 yards.

Fantasy Tip: A three-headed running back monster is frustrating for FantasyScore players, especially since the trio had generally the same amount of touches. Andrews ($3,000, 6.0% of cap), McCluster ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Sankey ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) should be avoided until one is given more of a primary role.

Titans | Dexter McCluster sees heavy action

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 07:10:49 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster led the running backs with 47 snaps (59% of the offense) Sunday, Sept. 20. RB Bishop Sankey played 32 snaps (40% of the offense.)

Fantasy Tip: McCluster ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had 10 rushes for 98 yards and four catches for 26 yards. Sankey ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) had just 12 rushes for 42 yards after two TDs in Week 1. Check the RB duo's prices on FantasyScore for a potential flex spot against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.

Titans | Dexter McCluster leads the way

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 18:21:42 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster carried 10 times for 98 yards in the Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns, and he added four receptions for 26 yards.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) was a giant value for FantasyScore players who took a chance on him in this one. He is a sleeper heading into Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Titans | Dexter McCluster carving out a role

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 06:28:49 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster rushed for 37 yards on five carries and caught two passes for 20 yards during the preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs Friday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: McCluster projects to be the change-of-pace and third-down back for Tennessee, and in deep PPR formats, he owns sneaky value. The Titans should find themselves in passing situations a lot, and McCluster's competition in the Tennessee backfield isn't exactly a collection of world-beaters. FantasyScore players should take note of McCluster as a potential source of cap relief in favorable matchups, too. You'll want to aim higher than McCluster in the majority of standard leagues, though.

Titans | Committee to be used in TEN?

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 13:37:22 -0700

Tennessee Titans RBs Bishop Sankey and David Cobb could lead a running back by committee this season, according to ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky. RBs Antonio Andrews and Dexter McCluster would also be in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: Sankey should still see the majority of playing time out of the backfield to start the season, but the Titans do have a few capable running backs at their disposal. Cobb and Andrews are nice sleepers, but shouldn't be drafted until later rounds. Sankey should be viewed as no more than a RB3.

Titans | Confidence high for Antonio Andrews

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 20:32:18 -0700

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews feels confident he can crack the roster, and is shooting for a starting tailback job in training camp and the preseason. "I am just going for a starting spot, whether it is Bishop Sankey, Dexter McCluster, David Cobb, Jalston Fowler or Connor Neighbors, I am just trying to be the No. 1 guy," Andrews said.

Fantasy Tip: Andrews was a stud in college fantasy football during his days at Western Kentucky, but the NFL is a whole new ball game and he is competing for touches in a crowded backfield. Perhaps he gets a chance to show what he can do, but for now Fantasy players should only monitor his progress. It is premature to add him to cheat sheets at this juncture, as everyone is confident heading into a new year.

Titans | Dexter McCluster to be more involved?

Mon, 29 Dec 2014 11:32:19 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Dexter McCluster may be more involved in the offense next year, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Bishop Sankey will probably take over the reins at starting running back, but McCluster is a wild card of sorts and can be used in the backfield and as a wide receiver. He could be worth a late-round flier in 2015 fantasy drafts.
