Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said RB Dexter McCluster has been working with the wide receivers during organized team activities because he already knows what to do at running back and needs more reps at wide receiver. Crennel indicated the team will use him at both positions this season.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel believes RB Dexter McCluster can be a weapon for the team; however, his lack of size also presents an issue. "You have to be cognizant of his size and the limitations that size presents," Crennel said. "But he also brings play-making ability. If you manage him well, you can get a lot of good plays out of him and not expose him too much to the rigors of that position."

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster carried 12 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos. He also had three receptions for 25 yards, and was targeted six times. He split carries with RB Thomas Jones, who finished with 15 carries for just 42 yards.

Kansas City Chiefs interim coach Romeo Crennel said Wednesday, Dec. 28, that the team doesn't have a lot of depth in the backfield for Week 17 if RB Jackie Battle (foot) cannot play. "You might say we're borderline as far as depth goes," Crennel said. FB Le'Ron McClain might get carries along with RBs Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster. The team also has RB Shaun Draughn on the practice squad, and he might be promoted for added depth.
