Bengals | Brandon LaFell cut

Thu, 02 Aug 2018 07:07:29 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell was granted his release Thursday, Aug. 2, according to his agent, Jonathan Feinsod.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell had a 52-548-3 season last year and turns 32 in November. It's possible he lands on his feet and is worthy of a WR5 flyer, but there are younger options in that pool with more upside.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell could be let go

Sat, 10 Mar 2018 09:55:12 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell could be released this offseason in part because the team would create $4 million in salary cap space. The team could also cut LaFell in order to give more playing time to the younger receivers on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has been a starting receiver for the Bengals over the last two seasons but posted only 548 yards this past season. He could receive some interest if he is released but would not be a great fantasy option.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell limited to eight yards

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 16:12:25 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell posted four receptions for just eight yards in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: The four catches were nice, but he has been awful in terms of average yards per grab, especially over his past three games. He just nine receptions for 85 yards during the unimpressive span.

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 15:34:01 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell finished with three receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 14 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has three or more receptions in five straight outings, and eight of the past nine games. He has emerged as a decent WR4 in PPR fantasy leagues, with much less value in standard formats.

Bengals | Another modest showing from Brandon LaFell

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 22:57:02 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell finished with four catches on seven targets for 55 yards in the team's Week 13 loss Monday, Dec. 4, versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: The targets are usually there for LaFell, who has garnered at least six throws in half of his games this season, but the results simply are not, as this was only his second game with more than 45 yards. Thus, LaFell is really just a desperate play and should be reserved only for the deepest of leagues out there.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell doesn't do much

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 13:47:07 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell finished with three receptions for 33 yards on six targets in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell exploded for 95 yards and a touchdown in Week 10, but is back to mediocrity over the past two outings with six grabs for just 70 yards and no scores. He remains nothing more than a WR5 in most fantasy formats heading into Week 13 against the Steelers on Monday night.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell practices fully

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 11:49:49 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (knee) was a full practice participant Thursday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has produced one game with over 50 yards this season. He's too hit or miss, mostly miss, to be trusted as a starter. Plus, the Cleveland Browns have actually defended the pass well this year.

Fri, 17 Nov 2017 12:29:51 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 17, but is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell is coming off a terrific Week 10 performance but will be facing a tougher opponent in the Denver Broncos. He continues to have a solid role in the passing game but can be avoided because of the matchup.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell upgraded to limited

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 15:23:51 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (knee) was upgraded to limited at practice Thursday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell is coming off by far his best game of the campaign, when he recorded six catches on 10 targets for 95 yards and his second touchdown of the season, but it's hard recommending him here for one of the toughest possible matchups a receiver can have. LaFell and the Bengals travel to Denver on Sunday, and thus, owners should stay away from the six-year veteran.

Bengals | No practice for Brandon LaFell

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 14:56:21 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has a tough enough weekend ahead of him as it is versus the Denver Broncos. Adding a knee that's not at full health makes matters worse. His status will need to be monitored for the next few days, but he can't be viewed as more than a flex at this point.

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 14:34:39 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell caught six passes for 95 yards and one touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has been quiet for most of the season but posted his best numbers this week against the Titans. He will continue to be a starter for the Bengals but is not a great option against the Denver Broncos next week.

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 15:51:30 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell figures to be out there on Sunday in Tennessee despite his limited practice activity, but that doesn't mean he's worth starting for any format. He's yet to reach 45 receiving yards in a game this season and has just one touchdown to show for his efforts.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (hamstring) practice in full Friday, Nov. 3, but he is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell should be considered a WR4 in PPR leagues, and a low-end WR5 in standard play when healthy. His season high in a game, set last week, is just 44 yards, although he has managed at least four catches in three straight outings.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell fully practices

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 11:25:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (hamstring) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has had a difficult time finding success this season, even when John Ross has been on the sideline. Now that Ross has returned, LaFell may be even less involved in the offense. He can't be trusted as a starter as he has scored just once this year and has not even reached 50 yards in a game yet.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell turns in 44 yards

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 18:14:13 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell racked up four receptions for 44 yards on his five targets in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell posted a season-high yardage total, but that's not saying much. He has posted at least four catches in each of his past three games to make himself useful as a WR5 in deeper PPR leagues, but he isn't worth the bother in standard formats.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell pulls down five balls

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 18:23:24 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell posted five receptions for 32 yards on eight targets in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell was limited by a knee during the week, but he didn't seem to have any ill effects of the injury during the game, which was played in rainy conditions, too. That's a good sign, but he still is doing nothing. His 32 yards on Sunday were a season high and he has zero touchdowns through five games, so that tells you a little something about his fantasy value going forward.

Bengals | Limited practice for Brandon LaFell

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 13:21:21 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell appears to have a good chance to play in Week 4, but owners will know more about his status later in the week. LaFell was limited to one pass for five yards last week and has not posted more than 30 yards in any of the three games in 2017. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use and can avoid LaFell.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell limited by knee

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 13:15:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (knee) was considered a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has managed a total of eight receptions, failing to take advantage of the absence of rookie John Ross. In fact, he managed just one grab for five yards in Week 3, and that's not helping anyone in fantasy.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell hauls in three balls

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:21:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell racked up three catches for 24 yards on five targets in Week 1 against Baltimore.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell is second in the pecking order in Cincinnati for receptions and that's exactly where he slotted behind A.J. Green. It was an ugly game all around for the Bengals offense. Expect some improvement from LaFell heading into Week 2 against the Texans.

Bengals | Tyler Boyd the real No. 2 in Cincinnati?

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 10:25:01 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell will be the "official No. 2" to start the season, but WR Tyler Boyd could end up being the second-most productive wide receiver on the team, according to Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals are quite deep at receiver behind A.J. Green, as first-round selection John Ross and Boyd are backing LaFell at the moment. LaFell is average at best in a number of areas as a receiver, so it would not be surprising to see his role diminish as the season progresses. Either way, Green and Tyler Eifert figure to dominate the majority of high-leverage targets in Cincinnati this year.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell likely will make team

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 13:26:24 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell likely will make the 53-man roster this season because it would leave at least $3 million of dead money on the salary cap if he was released, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell. The Bengals also like that LaFell has a mentor-like relationship with WR A.J. Green.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell should continue to be one of the starting receivers for the Bengals in 2017 but could lose some targets because of the younger receivers on the team. He posted 862 yards and six touchdowns this past season and could be a No. 4 or No. 5 fantasy receiver if he can post similar numbers.

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 19:48:04 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell said he feels he will be even better in 2017 because he is already familiar with QB Andy Dalton and the offense.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell finished with 862 yards and six touchdowns in his first year in Cincinnati, and if the Bengals don't add any more receivers this offseason, he should be a useful WR4.

Sun, 08 Jan 2017 09:49:55 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (thumb) will undergo surgery this offseason to repair a ligament in his thumb, but it should not affect his availability for next season.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell will be a free agent this offseason and may receive interest from multiple teams as a potential No. 3 receiver. He finished the 2106 season with 862 yards and six touchdowns. LaFell probably will be a depth player for fantasy owners next season as a No. 4 or No. 5 receiver.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell catches seven passes

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 14:21:24 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell caught seven passes for 67 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell played well in the last five weeks of the season with three games with at least 90 yards and two touchdowns during that span. He should find a decent contract this offseason and probably will be a No. 3 receiver for a team. Owners can consider LaFell as a late-round option in drafts.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell over 100 yards

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 03:36:16 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell caught six of his 10 targeted passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in a 12-10 loss to the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: One of those passes was an 86-yard touchdown effort from Andy Dalton. Take that away and LaFell still has five catches for 44 yards. Not the best numbers, but no slouch either. Keep an eye on LaFell because he and Andy Dalton seem to have developed a rapport in A.J. Green's absence.

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 15:38:44 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell caught seven passes for 91 yards but did not score in a 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell was targeted nine times, meaning he had a pretty decent day on the field. LaFell may not have scored, but it's clear from this game that he is one of Andy Dalton's top threats. LaFell makes a decent WR3 candidate but Dalton's struggles make it harder to recommend him higher.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 16, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: LaFell has been targeted at least seven times in three of the last four games but has more than 32 yards in only one on his last six games. He will continue to receive most of the snaps at receiver but should only be considered as a flex option in deeper leagues.
