Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez to DL

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 09:29:30 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder, elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with both shoulder and elbow pain Friday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: If you haven't already, drop Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats. He could make it back for a start or two to finish off the year, but he won't be of any service to your fantasy squads and would likely be on a limited pitch count.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez could land on the DL

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 13:01:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder, elbow) could be placed on the disabled list. MRIs on his right shoulder and elbow revealed nothing more serious than tendinitis, which is causing inflammation, and there is nothing structurally wrong, though.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is a low-end fantasy option in all formats, and he isn't worth holding onto outside of AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. He is expected to return to start again before the season wraps up, but at best he is a risky matchup play at FantasyScore and potential streamer in seasonal leagues. After all, he has allowed at least three runs in each of his past seven starts with a 7.46 ERA during the stretch.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez to resume throwing

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 12:42:28 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder, elbow) is hoping to resume throwing in a few days.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez's ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) MRI results showed only inflammation, so he's hoping to start again this year. However, he'll be a very shaky fantasy commodity if he does return, and he's probably best avoided everywhere.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez's injury not serious

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 16:48:49 -0700

Updating previous reports, Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez's (shoulder, elbow) MRI exam looked "pretty good," and he's only dealing with shoulder and elbow inflammation, according to a team official.

Fantasy Tip: Even though his injury is minor, Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) could be forced to miss several starts, meaning he won't be very useful to fantasy owners in any format for the season's final month.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez out a few starts

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 14:18:23 -0700

Updating a previous item, Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder, elbow) is expected to miss at least a couple of stars regardless of what the results of his MRI exam are. The team is waiting for the results Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: That's all the reason you need to dump Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in all formats, as he's unlikely to make any impact at all for fantasy teams in the final month. Avoid him at FantasyScore, too.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez to miss a start

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 09:25:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder, elbow) will miss at least one start after he undergoes an MRI exam Tuesday, Sept. 1. Gonzalez had Tommy John surgery in 2009 and hopes his recent injury is just minor inflammation. He is 9-11 with a 4.85 ERA this year and hasn't gone six full innings in 11 of his last 14 starts.

Fantasy Tip: With the final month of the regular season upon us, there's not much time left for Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) to make much of a fantasy impact, even if he does only miss one start. Cutting him in deep mixed leagues is OK to do, and don't expect him to be a wise play on FantasyScore for the rest of this year.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez set for MRI

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 22:49:58 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder Monday, Aug. 31. He is scheduled for an MRI Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Orioles | Manager endorses Miguel Gonzalez

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 15:09:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez has a 6.48 ERA through 11 starts since coming off the disabled list Thursday, June 25, but will remain in the starting rotation, according to manager Buck Showalter. "He's our best option," Showalter said.

Fantasy Tip: Just because he is Showalter's best option doesn't mean Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is your best option in any fantasy format. It would be wise to avoid Gonzalez in all seasonal leagues until he turns his game around on the bump. FantasyScore players should view him as an extremely risky start, even in favorable matchups.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez uneven lately

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 13:42:02 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez has a 6.64 ERA in his last four starts, although he gave up just three runs over seven innings in his last start against the Oakland Athletics. He's looking for his first win since July 25 against the Minnesota Twins Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: The risk factor looks to be too high to use Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in your daily lineups tonight. He's been a little worse at home than on the road, too.

Orioles | Bud Norris status unclear

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 12:30:14 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Bud Norris has been pushed back in the starting rotation by manager Buck Showalter. SP Miguel Gonzalez will pitch instead on Sunday, July 5. Norris's status is not known.

Fantasy Tip: With Kevin Gausman ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) and Wei-Yin Chen ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) back in the rotation and pitching well, Norris ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) could be on the outside looking in. The club could still pitch Norris on Monday, or he could serve as a long reliever. Stay away from Norris until his status is determined.
