White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez struggles in start

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 20:16:18 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez allowed five earned runs, 11 hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Monday, April 25, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez went 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts for Class AAA Charlotte, but he'll need to do more at the big-league level if he hopes to stick around. Right now he is only worth rostering in AL-only fantasy formats right now.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez to make spot start Monday

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 13:16:22 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez is expected to make a spot start on Monday, April 25, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez has been solid at Triple-A Charlotte, posting a 2.45 ERA over his first two starts, but is a poor option for fantasy owners - like most non-elite pitchers - against the Blue Jays' formidable lineup. Owners should look elsewhere if they are seeking an under-the-radar option for DFS purposes.

White Sox | No opt out for Miguel Gonzalez

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 22:33:12 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez does not have an opt-out clause in the deal he recently signed, and he will head immediately to Triple-A Charlotte.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez needs to pitch well for the Knights and he'll be back in the major sooner rather than later. He has the chance to be a solid fantasy addition sometime by Memorial Day if he pitches to his capabilities.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez signed by White Sox

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 13:25:17 -0700

Free-agent SP Miguel Gonzalez (Orioles) was signed by the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, April 3.

Fantasy Tip: With John Danks and Mat Latos posting earned run averages near 5.00 last season, this is insurance in case one of these two falters in 2016. Latos may not be long for the rotation if he gets off to a slow start, but for now monitor this situation. Gonzalez posted a 9.78 ERA in six spring starts, so the team may bring him along slowly.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez released

Wed, 30 Mar 2016 12:13:42 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez received an unconditional release Wednesday, March 30, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: After posting a 3.45 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP through 75 games from 2012 to 2014, Gonzalez slumped to 4.91 and 1.40 marks through 26 starts in 2015. He could latch onto a starting job and gain value in single universes, but for now, Gonzalez is a fantasy afterthought.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez signs deal

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 11:32:40 -0800

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez avoided arbitration by signing a one-year, $5.1 million deal Friday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez's numbers were a little rough, and he's a depth starter in AL-only formats.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez suffers loss Wednesday

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 18:21:12 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (9-12) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays during the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday, Sept. 30, with three walks and three strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) was making his first start in about a month due to tendinitis in his right shoulder and looked shaky. It is uncertain if he will pitch again this season but avoid using him in FantasyScore if he does.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez activated, to start

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 10:53:54 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 29, and will start against the Toronto Blue Jays. Gonzalez initially went on the DL Sept. 4 with right shoulder tendonitis. He is 9-11 with a 4.85 ERA with eight quality starts this year in 25 starts.

Fantasy Tip: There's absolutely no reason why you should be looking to use Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) on FantasyScore against the highest-scoring team in the majors tonight.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez throws sim game

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 09:05:29 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) threw a three-inning simulated game Wednesday, Sept. 23, and a 20-pitch bullpen session and is expected to throw another bullpen Saturday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Tip: It's possible that Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) could return to make a start next week, but nothing is certain at this point. Don't rely on him in any fantasy format for the remainder of the year, including at FantasyScore if he makes another start.
