Broncos | Demaryius Thomas to skip camp?

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 20:35:15 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas is not expected to report to training camp unless a long-term deal is reached before the July 15 deadline to sign franchise players to extensions, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: While there is a chance that Thomas' timing with Peyton Manning could suffer if he continues to stay away from the team, he should still be considered a WR1.

Broncos | Peyton Manning not happy

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 20:23:48 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is upset that WR Demaryius Thomas doesn't have a new deal and isn't practicing with the team, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday, June 11.

Fantasy Tip: Although the extra practice reps certainly wouldn't hurt, Thomas will be back on the field eventually. Meanwhile, the lost time won't change the fact that Thomas is a WR1 and Manning is a QB1 in all formats.

Broncos | DT not expected in camp without deal

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 17:04:23 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas isn't expected to report to training camp if he does not have a new contract by that point.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is fully expected to have a new contract, but it appears the receive is willing to try to force the Broncos' hand. It is highly unlikely the Broncos don't meet Thomas' demands, as they won't want to head into the season with a receiving corps of Emmanuel Sanders, Andre Caldwell and Cody Latimer, in what could be Peyton Manning's last season.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas' contract will get done

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 14:59:57 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas was not present at minicamp Tuesday, June 9, as he awaits a long-term deal. Head coach Gary Kubiak said he is very confident that the long-term deal will get done.

Fantasy Tip: As Kubiak also said, it's a matter of when, not if, Thomas will return. If a long-term deal somehow doesn't get done, he will still play with his one-year franchise tag. And as long as Peyton Manning is still throwing his way, he's a top-tier fantasy wide receiver.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas has deadline

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 05:57:23 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has until July 15 to reach a new deal with the team or else they can't sign a new deal until after the season. It would cost $15.39 million to place the franchise tag on him in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' holdout should affect him too much right now. However, if it lingers into training camp and the preseason, his timing with Peyton Manning could suffer. Timing is everything in that offense. He's still one of the top receivers in fantasy.

NFL | Potential 2016 free-agent WR class stout

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:28:45 -0700

The upcoming group of potential free-agent wide receivers includes four of the positions most dominant players, including Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green and Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, according to Spotrac.com. All four players are engaging in contract discussions on some level with their current teams.

Fantasy Tip: While it looks impressive on paper, the reality of any of these guys hitting the open market seems extremely low, let alone the idea of all four of them at the same time. Nevertheless, each one has something extra to play for in 2015, which only helps their fantasy value, all things being equal. Each player makes for a fine WR1 to build a fantasy team around.

Broncos | GM questions Demaryius Thomas' absence

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 12:21:24 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has decided not to participate in offseason workouts because he does not want to suffer an injury, but general manager John Elway does not know why Thomas is sitting out. "That makes no sense to me, him not getting hurt," Elway said. "If he gets hurt here, he's covered. If he gets hurt on his own... I don't understand it all. It makes no sense for him."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is looking for a long-term contract from the team and has decided to skip the voluntary workouts. Thomas was one of the better fantasy receivers in 2014 and should be one of the first few selected in drafts next season.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas plays waiting game

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 18:14:29 -0700

The Denver Broncos and WR Demaryius Thomas are unlikely to reach a long-term deal soon. It is likely that Thomas' representation waits to see what kind of deal the Dallas Cowboys and WR Dez Bryant reach before proceeding with a deal for his client. Thomas will be paid $12.822 million on the franchise tag this year, and that's close to the $13 million per year the Broncos offered last summer, so Denver can afford to wait.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is in the fold for the 2015 season one way or the other, and he will be a top-notch fantasy option at his position once again. He is resting his ankle and not working out with Peyton Manning right now, but he’ll be plenty up to speed by the time the season rolls around.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas excited about offense

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 14:46:58 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas thinks the team will have a much more balanced offense under new head coach Gary Kubiak in 2015. "They've got everybody saying we're going to run, run, run and I know the coaches have run the ball before and that's good, I think," Thomas said. "We know we can throw, we know we have guys who can make plays, I don't think coach Kubiak is going to just ignore that. But I think we all feel like if we can add in a good running game, you can win the Super Bowl."

Fantasy Tip: Despite the fact that the Broncos will likely be more of a run-first team in 2015, Thomas should remain a WR1 for fantasy football owners, and he's worth taking with an early-round pick with Peyton Manning back for what could be his final season.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas sitting out workouts

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 10:40:28 -0700

Correcting a previous report, Denver Broncos franchise free-agent WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) is not working out with QB Peyton Manning and the other receivers at Duke University because he is allowing his ankle to heal.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas could miss all of the offseason workouts because of his contract situation. Thomas still likely will play for the Broncos in 2015 but may not receive the long-term deal he is looking for this offseason. Thomas should be one of the top fantasy receivers next season and be selected in one of the early rounds of drafts.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas' ankle fine

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 16:05:52 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, Achilles') took "about a month" to recover from an ankle/Achilles' injury that he suffered last December. Thomas said his ankle will be fine this offseason. "Ankle will be fine, I could go out and run routes right now if I had to," Thomas said. "But I don't want to have any pain, I'm pretty sure I'll be good in another month or so, with the Achilles', I'll be fine, I'll be great."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is an elite NFL receiver that should be taken early in fantasy football drafts in 2015. Having Peyton Manning back for another season solidifies Thomas' standing as one of the most valuable fantasy receivers.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas will miss workouts

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 11:12:25 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas will not be present at the Broncos' offseason program or attend workouts with QB Peyton Manning at Duke University. Thomas is currently in Los Angeles for a charity event.

Fantasy Tip: Not much to take away from this news. As long as Thomas is healthy heading into training camp, there's no reason to think he shouldn't be considered a top-five fantasy wide receiver this season.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas has non-exclusive tag

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 23:55:06 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has the non-exclusive franchise tag, which means Thomas can have talks with other teams but those teams must supply two draft picks to the Broncos if Thomas signs with another club.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is still worth every penny of the $12.823 million salary he would get in 2015 and is a solid WR1 option.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas gets tagged

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 11:24:01 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas officially received the franchise tag Monday, March 2.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas will be in contention for the No. 1 fantasy wide receiver spot again in 2015. Over three seasons with QB Peyton Manning, Thomas has averaged 99 catches, 1,494.3 yards and 11.6 touchdowns.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas to get franchise tag

Sun, 01 Mar 2015 20:09:10 -0800

The Denver Broncos are expected to use the franchise tag on WR Demaryius Thomas Monday, March 2, all but ensuring the team keeps the wideout for the 2015 season. They are expected to use the "nonexclusive" tag, which makes it possible for other teams to negotiate with Thomas. However, the team has the right to match any offer, and if he is signed away the team is compensated by the signing team with two first-round draft picks.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas appears headed back for Denver for at least one more season and that's great news for his fantasy prospects. Look for what happened to Eric Decker when he left Peyton Manning and the team for Geno Smith and the New York Jets.

Broncos | Tag coming for Demaryius Thomas

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 17:04:54 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent WR Demaryius Thomas will have the franchise tag placed on him if the team can't work out a long-term deal in the next few days, according to general manager John Elway. Both sides have had the framework of a five-year deal on the table over the last year. The franchise tag for receivers this year is expected to be in the $12.7 to $12.9 million range.

Fantasy Tip: So Thomas, as expected, will remain in Denver for at least one more season. That'll assure that he will remain an elite WR1 option for fantasy owners if Peyton Manning returns, which seems to be the case. Expect Thomas to come off the board in the late first or early second round of fake drafts.

Broncos | Denver not talking with Demaryius Thomas

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 09:55:34 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent WR Demaryius Thomas and the team haven't had contract extension talks for some time, according to a source. The Broncos aren't ruling out using the franchise tag on Thomas, which would cost them roughly $13 million and would limit their options in retaining impending free-agent TE Julius Thomas.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to imagine the Broncos letting Thomas walk away this offseason. With Peyton Manning expected to return for a final season, Thomas should once again be worthy of elite WR1 numbers in a new offensive system.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas could be tagged

Sun, 08 Feb 2015 08:06:01 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent WR Demaryius Thomas could receive the franchise tag if the two sides are not able to agree to a new deal before the deadline for teams to use the tag.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas was one of the top fantasy receivers this past season and could be again if he remains with the Broncos and Peyton Manning returns. Thomas likely will be a starter if he signs with another team. Owners should consider Thomas as one of the first wide receivers off the board in drafts next season.

Mon, 02 Feb 2015 17:53:20 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he would love to remain a Bronco when he becomes a free agent this offseason, but he added that he is letting his agent handle things.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas ready to go this weekend

Fri, 09 Jan 2015 13:12:13 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, finger) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Jan. 9, and is probable for the divisional round game against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) has had his share of bumps and bruises down the stretch, but he'll be fine against the Colts. Trusting him in daily games like FantasyScore means you have faith that Peyton Manning will throw the ball often. Thomas should be a safer wideout option, but his high FantasyScore price is offputting unless he finds the end zone Sunday.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas a full go

Thu, 08 Jan 2015 13:25:12 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, finger) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) didn't do much in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, but both teams were much different at that time. His struggles in the red zone of late are more worrisome. As FantasyScore's top-priced receiver this weekend, Thomas could struggle to make profit for you if he doesn't find the end zone.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas struggling in red zone

Thu, 08 Jan 2015 11:45:32 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas has caught only one of the 16 passes that have been targeted for him in the red zone over the last five games.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas was still able to post three straight 100-yard games to finish the season, so he is still is a big part of the passing game. Thomas is the most expensive receiver on FantasyScore at $8,100 but may be worth the money if the team is able to throw against the Indianapolis Colts.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas a full go

Wed, 07 Jan 2015 14:08:34 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, finger) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas should be good to go this week. There is some risk in starting Thomas if the Broncos stick to the ground game, but he is still a decent option this week. Thomas will cost $8,100 in FantasyScore contests.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas resting

Tue, 30 Dec 2014 14:15:34 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, finger, elbow) received the day off in practice Tuesday, Dec. 30. He's been dealing with a right ankle injury for the past few weeks, but he left with a splint on his right middle finger after the Week 17 game. Thomas also had a wrap on his left elbow Monday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been beat up of late, but it'll be nice that he will now have an extra weak to heal up before the Divisional Round. Thomas should be considered one of the better wide receiver plays at FantasyScore in two weeks.

Fri, 26 Dec 2014 16:03:24 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, hip) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 26, and is probable for Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, hip) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 25.

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 15:44:45 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, hip) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas should be a great play in Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders. Thomas went over 100 yards receiving without a score against Oakland in their first matchup.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas has elite company

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 09:03:56 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas joined former WRs Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice as the only players with three straight seasons with 1,400 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($5,555) is clearly one of the elite receivers in the NFL these days. In Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders, he'll be a great play at FantasyScore, since the Broncos still have something to play for.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas probable

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:11:43 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) is probable for Monday night's game with the Cincinnati Bengals after practicing fully Saturday, Dec. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($8,100) is a more expensive option on FantasyScore, as usual, and Cincinnati has only yielded seven touchdowns to wide receivers this year. It might be a better option to look for a cheaper player with a better matchup.

Broncos | Demaryius, Julius Thomas practice in full

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 13:21:57 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) and TE Julius Thomas (ankle) both practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Both Thomases should be on the field Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Demaryius Thomas ($8,100) is the safer play, even if the Broncos continue to run the ball more. Julius Thomas ($6,500) could be getting closer to 100 percent health, but he remains a bit of a risk until we see results on the field.

Broncos | Demaryius, Julius Thomas full participants

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:32:23 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) and TE Julius Thomas (ankle) both practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Both Thomases' fantasy values have been hurting recently because of the Broncos' lack of passing lately. Julius Thomas ($6,500) has seen his FantasyScore salary drop due to injury, too. Starting Julius Thomas probably is still a bit of a risk, but it was nice to see him play more snaps in Week 15. Demaryius Thomas ($8,100) may be too expensive for our taste if the Broncos continue to favor the running game.

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 15:15:39 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas went over 100 yards receiving in the third quarter of the Week 15 game against the San Diego Chargers. He has eight 100-yard games, tying former WR Rod Smith for the most 100-yard receiving games in a single season in franchise history.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas hauled in a 28-yard touchdown in the second half. After a couple of tough weeks by his standards, he is back.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas probable

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 13:09:09 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 12, and is probable for Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($7,900) has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury, but it shouldn't keep you from taking him at FantasyScore this weekend. Thomas went over 100 yards against the Bolts earlier this year and has a good history against them.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker practice

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:25:11 -0800

Denver Broncos WRs Demaryius Thomas (ankle) and Wes Welker (ankle) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 11, after sitting out Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' injury is more serious than Welker's, but both should play in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers. Thomas ($7,900) remains a perfectly acceptable play at FantasyScore; he had eight catches for over 100 yards in the first matchup with SD this year. Welker ($4,200) is a shaky flex play, but he could see more targets again if Julius Thomas (ankle) is limited or doesn't play at all.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas not practicing

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 10:51:17 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas likely is sitting out practice to allow his injured ankle to heal. Owners will need to see what he is able to do during practice this week after he was limited to 11 yards in Week 14. Thomas has a price of $7,900 on FantasyScore, which may be too expensive for owners if Thomas is not 100 percent.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas OK with more run game

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 15:59:59 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he's fine with the team running the football more. "If you're still playing in January and February, it seems like every good football team has some kind of running game," Thomas said. "If you get that balance between run and pass, I think we can go deeper and deeper."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($7,900, 15.8%) was held to just two catches last week with the Broncos focused on running the football. He'll look to rebound against a San Diego Chargers defense that has allowed 14 touchdowns to the position this year.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas expected to play

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 11:12:04 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Thomas' ankle injury is minor and that he should be on the field this week. Thomas has been a consistent performer for owners this season and is worth using on FantasyScore at $8,000 if owners are willing to spend the money.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas would take discount

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 16:42:42 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas would be willing to take a hometown discount to stay with the Broncos next year. Thomas will become a free-agent following the 2014 season and could be in for a big, long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: As far as this week is concerned, Thomas is a great option for FantasyScore lineups against a mediocre Buffalo Bills defense, even at $8,000.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 4, after he had his ankle stepped on during practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas may be receiving the day off to allow the ankle to fully heal, but owners should monitor the situation during the rest of the week. Thomas is one of the most expensive receivers on FantasyScore at $8,000 but has been a productive player every week.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas limited Wednesday

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 15:11:04 -0800

Denver Broncos WRR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) was limited in practice due to an ankle injury Wednesday, Dec. 3. Head coach John Fox said Thomas "got stepped on" in practice.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' injury doesn't seem very serious, but it's worth watching. The Bills have been sufficient against opposing wide receivers this year, but Thomas isn't your ordinary wideout. Still, Thomas' $8,000 FantasyScore salary could be tough to live up to this weekend.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas had seven receptions for 103 yards in Week 11 against the St. Louis Rams. It was his seventh consecutive 100-yard receiving game.

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 17:39:51 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas posted his sixth consecutive 100-yard receiving game in Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas finished with 11 receptions for 108 yards, but he was held out of the end zone. Thomas was targeted 14 times, and despite a high price in FantasyScore, he remains worth the money until he starts to cool off.

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 19:07:15 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said that he let his first drop of the season affect his confidence until he was able to clear his head during the bye week.

Fantasy Tip: After his monster performance in Week 5, Thomas' claim that he worked through his slump during the bye week certainly seems valid. His $7,900 salary (15.8% of cap) at FantasyScore is the third-highest at the position in Week 6, but he could be worth the price with the Broncos facing the makeshift secondary of the New York Jets that was just torched by Philip Rivers and the San Diego passing attack.
