The Miami Marlins sent OF Christian Yelich to the minors Friday, March 22, after he hit .364 with five home runs and 14 RBIs this spring. He will start the year at Double-A Jacksonville. P Jonathan Albaladejo and C Jake Jefferies were reassigned to minor league camp and P Tom Koehler was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich must prove himself in the minors, but he has a decent shot to make his major league debut. Jake Marisnick, the Marlins' other prized outfield prospect, is older and more advanced, though, so he may see a call-up before Yelich.

The Miami Marlins optioned P Omar Poveda and P Chris Hatcher to Triple-A New Orleans and optioned P Arquimedes Caminero to Single-A Jupiter. They also reassigned P Jose Alvarez, P Corey Madden, P A.J. Ramos, P Rob Rasmussen and C Jake Jefferies to minor league camp. SP Sean West was outrighted to the minors.

The Miami Marlins have announced that 22 players, including 11 organizational players, have received invitations to major league spring training camp. Ps Jose Alvarez, Robert Delaney, Chad Gaudin, Gary Glover, Chad James, Corey Madden, J.D. Martin, Rob Rasmussen, Robert Ray, Alejandro Ramos and Elih Villanueva, Cs Jake Jefferies, Luke Montz, Clint Sammons and Kyle Skipworth, INFs Nick Green, Donovan Solano, Terry Tiffee and Gil Velazquez and OFs Kyle Jensen and Aaron Rowand will participate in camp.

The St. Petersburg Times reports the Tampa Bay Rays are bringing 22 of their most promising prospects, including P Jeremy Hellickson and OF Desmond Jennings, to St. Petersburg next week for a four-day winter development program. Players will work out at Tropicana Field, and also undergo media training, make community relations appearances and attend a Lightning game.
