Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome (illness) is scheduled to make his second minor-league rehab appearance with Class A Advanced Charlotte Thursday, April 16.

Fantasy Tip: Colome, who is making his way back from a bout with pneumonia, was in the running for fifth-starter duties before he fell ill in spring training. Itís uncertain if heíll get the chance when he is well, but at least Erasmo Ramirez has been horrible filling in.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome (illness) is expected to make a minor-league rehab start for Class A Charlotte Saturday, April 11. He is working his way back from a bout with pneumonia.

Fantasy Tip: Itís uncertain when Colome returns if he will move into the No. 5 slot in the rotation or work in long relief. FantasyScore owners need to play wait-and-see at this point.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome (illness) has re-discovered his appetite, and he has gained back five of the 10 pounds he lost while in the hospital dealing with pneumonia. He was able to throw a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday, March 23, and he said he felt good.

Fantasy Tip: Colome was in the mix for the No. 5 rotation job, and he was considered the favorite before his bout with illness. It's uncertain if his status as favorite has changed during this layoff, but being out certainly has helped his chances.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome (pneumonia) has been hospitalized due to pneumonia, according to manager Kevin Cash. He is expected to be released from the hospital Saturday, March 14, or Sunday, March 15.

Fantasy Tip: Colome had been the favorite to win the No. 5 spot in the Rays' starting rotation but this setback could put his Opening Day status in jeopardy. If he recovers in time, he could be a late-round flier in deep AL-only leagues.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome is the favorite to win the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation, even though he remains at the organization's facility in the Dominican Republic because of visa issues. SPs Matt Andriese and Burch Smith are also in the running for the job.

Fantasy Tip: Colome has a leg up on the competition because he is out of options. He is expected to hold a rotation spot until Matt Moore returns from Tommy John surgery in late June or early July. He should be monitored in deep AL-only leagues.
