Phillies | Freddy Galvis sitting Tuesday

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 12:02:21 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26. SS Andres Blanco is starting at the 6 and batting second against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is a light-hitting utility infielder that should be avoided against Scherzer in daily formats Tuesday, despite hitting in a favorable lineup spot.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis resting Thursday

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 09:04:34 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 14. SS Andres Blanco is starting at shortstop and is hitting sixth against San Diego Padres SP Drew Pomeranz.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco has 11 career home runs in nine years, so he's not much of an offensive force and is a very low-end daily option against the Friars Thursday.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis not in leadoff spot Tuesday

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 13:03:04 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is batting sixth Tuesday, April 12, against the San Diego Padres. Galvis had been in the leadoff spot. 2B Cesar Hernandez is batting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis has a .179 average to start the season and has just three runs batted in. Hernandez is a .409 hitter in the first week with one stolen base, so the Phillies appear to be juggling lineup spots. Hernandez projects as a decent top-lineup option (19 steals last year). It may take time for Galvis to warm up.

Phillies | Ryan Howard out vs. lefty

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 11:23:30 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is on the bench against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP Brandon Finnegan Wednesday, April 6, with 1B Darin Ruf in his spot at first base and hitting fifth. Also, SS Freddy Galvis moves up to the two hole Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Don't act shocked. This is expected to be a regular occurrence this year with Howard sitting against left-handers. Ruf hit .371 with eight of his 12 homers against lefties in 2015 in 97 at-bats, so he's worth a look in daily games today.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis avoids arbitration

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 17:19:16 -0800

The Philadelphia Phillies have avoided arbitration with SS Freddy Galvis by agreeing to a one-year deal worth $2 million.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis hit .263 with seven home runs, 50 RBIs and 10 steals in 151 games last year. He will enter the 2016 season as the Phils' starting shortstop, although he may eventually be moved to another position to accommodate prospect J.P. Crawford when he is ready for the majors. Galvis should be drafted in the middle rounds of NL-only leagues and the later rounds of deep mixed leagues.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis out for Game 2

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 17:10:36 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is not in the lineup against Miami Marlins SP Justin Nicolino for Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, Oct. 3. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting and shortstop and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: In 11 games, d'Arnaud ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting just .214, and he isn't worth taking a chance on at FantasyScore.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis sitting out

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 17:40:08 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is not in the starting lineup for the second game of a doubleheader Friday, Sept. 11. SS Andres Blanco will start at shortstop against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks and is batting third in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game or two. Blanco ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is hitting .306 in limited playing time this season but probably is not the best option on FantasyScore.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis not in action

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 12:59:24 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 8, against the Atlanta Braves. SS Andres Blanco is in for Galvis and will hit fifth against Braves SP Ryan Weber.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) appears to be getting a normal night off. Blanco ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has a .307 home average at Citizens Bank Park and has three homers, so he might be an excellent source of salary-cap relief.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis dropped in the order

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 12:00:51 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is batting eighth against New York Mets SP Jon Niese Thursday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been batting second in the order the past three games, but Andres Blanco ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) shifts back to the two-hole Thursday. It doesn't have a huge impact on Blanco who is a low-end flier at FantasyScore Thursday, but Galvis takes a huge value hit batting in front of the pitcher. You can avoid Galvis in daily contests Thursday.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis enjoys facing the Mets

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 13:07:15 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is batting .375 with five RBI over his past six games, and he is hitting .357 against the New York Mets this season. Mets SP Bartolo Colon is starting against Philadelphia Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has settled into the two-hole of the order, and he is 3-for-6 against Colon ($5,500, 11.5% of cap) this season. The shortstop has a few things going for him Tuesday, but he shouldn't be confused as a lineup building block at FantasyScore.
