Phillies | Three Phils out Wednesday

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 06:52:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche, SS Freddy Galvis and OF Peter Bourjos (shoulder) are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 27. OF Tyler Goeddel, 2B Taylor Featherston and OF Jimmy Paredes are hitting sixth, seventh and eighth.

Fantasy Tip: You're really trying to catch lightning in a bottle if you're looking for a basement play here. Paredes has the most upside because of his work in Baltimore last year. However, he has a .207-2-8 line in 82 at-bats. He faces lefty Adam Conley today and is the only of the three to have some fantasy merit.

Phillies | Peter Bourjos batting second vs. Mets

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 12:36:12 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Peter Bourjos is batting second against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Friday, July 15. Philadelphia SS Freddy Galvis is batting seventh Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis has been hitting in the two-hole most nights, so moving down the lineup is a hit to his already limited fantasy value. Bourjos is nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, but he could be worth a contrarian flier in daily contests because he's batting second Friday.

Phillies | Four regulars return to Phils' lineup

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 07:50:54 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche, C Cameron Rupp (elbow), 1B Ryan Howard and SS Freddy Galvis are back in the starting lineup versus Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura Sunday, July 3.

Fantasy Tip: All four players were benched versus left-handed SP Danny Duffy Saturday, July 2, after appearing in the lineup Friday, July 1, although Rupp's absence appeared to be injury-related. Rupp is 6-for-13 with two doubles and an RBI in the past seven days, while Asche is 7-for-19 with four doubles and seven RBI over the same span, so both players should be on the radar of daily fantasy gamers looking for inexpensive sources of offense. Howard should continue to be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Phillies | Several Phils regulars resting Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 10:52:28 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard, SS Freddy Galvis, OF Cody Asche and C Cameron Rupp are not in the starting lineup versus Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Saturday, July 2. INF Andres Blanco will bat third and play shortstop, 1B Tommy Joseph will bat fifth and play first base, C Carlos Ruiz will bat sixth and start behind the plate and OF Tyler Goeddel will bat seventh and play in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph is 3-for-20 at the plate over the past week, while Goeddel is batting just .182 since June 1. Both players should be avoided in all fantasy formats. Blanco and Ruiz should be viewed strictly as inexpensive fliers in DFS.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis drives in five

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 16:09:32 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Freddy Galvis went 2-for-3 with a homer and a career-high five RBI Thursday, June 23, against the Minnesota Twins. The home run was his seventh of the season.

Fantasy Tip: This performance seemingly came out of nowhere, as Galvis was hitting a pathetic .108 this month before today's breakout. With a .216/.248/.358 slash line, the 26-year-old can safely be left on waiver wires everywhere.

Phillies | Cody Asche in two-hole

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 12:00:44 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche is starting in left field and is batting second against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Friday, June 17. SS Freddy Galvis moves down to the No. 6 spot against the left-hander.

Fantasy Tip: Asche also swings from the left side, so he's not particular a good play in any fantasy format against the southpaw. He's hit .242/.293/.356 with only five of his 29 career home runs against left-handers.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis sitting vs. Brewers

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 12:30:26 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 3. 2B Andres Blanco is starting at shortstop and batting second against Milwakuee Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson Friday.

Fantasy Tip: While Galvis' 21 runs, five home runs, 18 RBI and three stolen bases are respectable counting stats in deeper settings, he is nothing more than a low-end option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Blanco has been receiving the odd start, but with a .250/.302/.425 slash line through 43 plate appearances since May 1, there isn't a lot of value. Although, hitting in the two-hole, he is a potential contrarian flier in daily contests Friday, but keep your expectations in check.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez jumps up to two-hole

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 13:43:25 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is batting second, and SS Freddy Galvis is batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: At this point of the season, and in their respective careers, you know what you're getting with Hernandez and Galvis. They're both only viable contributors in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, and as far as the lineup swap goes, it likely won't matter facing Scherzer Wednesday. If the switch sticks, Hernandez would receive a slight value boost, especially if he can become more active on the base paths.
