Steelers | No change for Antonio Brown's contract

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 14:09:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown won't be receiving a new contract anytime soon, according to general manager Kevin Colbert. Colbert said it has been the organization's long-standing policy not to rework a non-quarterback contract with more than a year still left on that player's current contract.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is still young, and he'll see more money someday. He's arguably the best overall wide receiver in real-life football and in fantasy football. He's worth selecting as the first wide receiver in fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Antonio Brown has been consistent

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 14:17:00 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown has caught at least five passes for a minimum of 50 yards in 33 straight regular season games, and he has 239 catches, 3,197 yards and 21 touchdowns since he signed his last extension with the team in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is an elite receiver in the NFL and is the top wideout option for fantasy owners in PPR leagues, and an argument can be made that he is worth considering as the top overall pick after he put up 129 catches, 1,698 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2014.

Steelers | Antonio Brown may have to wait on deal

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 10:22:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown may not receive a restructured contract at this point since he is still under contract for three more years. The Steelers are reluctant to make any changes to the contract at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Brown's contract status should not affect his play this season. Brown led the league in receptions (129) and receiving yards (1,698) last season and should be one of the first wide receivers selected in all leagues.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is expected to meet with the team Friday, Aug. 14, to discuss a reworked and improved contract.

Steelers | PIT regulars sitting out this weekend

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 11:42:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Le'Veon Bell, WR Antonio Brown, TE Heath Miller, C Maurkice Pouncey and LB James Harrison will all sit out for the team's Hall of Fame Game against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. The Steelers will be extra cautious with an extra preseason game on their schedule this year. Backup QB Landry Jones will receive significant snaps in the game.

Fantasy Tip: A lot of team's regulars will be rested in preseason games, and that's even more so the case early on in the preseason. There's nothing to see here for fantasy owners.

Steelers | Antonio Brown still returning punts

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 10:43:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown is unlikely to return punts in the Hall of Fame Game Sunday, Aug. 9, but he'll likely do it the following weekend, and the team has every intention of keeping him in the punt returner role unless any of the other candidates excels in the job. Brown likes returning punts and wants to continue doing so.

Fantasy Tip: Brown can be even more valuable to owners in leagues that award punt and kick return yardage. As long as Big Ben is around and guiding Pittsburgh's offense, Brown is one of the most dynamic and valuable fantasy receivers to own.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant not starting yet

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 09:05:55 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant remains behind WR Antonio Brown on the official depth chart. WR Markus Wheaton is listed as the starter opposite Brown.

Fantasy Tip: Many have speculated Bryant would overtake Wheaton opposite of Brown, but it hasn't happened yet. Bryant has WR3 fantasy value, but an elbow infection slowed him. He'll need to prove he'll have a big role in the offense before we're comfortable spending that high of a pick on him.

Steelers | Antonio Brown ends holdout speculation

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 17:51:57 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown ended speculation that he may hold out when he showed up for the first day of training camp Saturday, July 25. "Hold outs never go well," said Brown. "Just look at history. It always ends badly. It wouldn't be the best decision. I make a lot of money. I pull up to camp in Rolls-Royces."

Fantasy Tip: Brown should be one of the first receivers taken in fantasy drafts, and he could be the No. 1 overall receiver in points-per-reception leagues.

Steelers | Antonio Brown adds muscle

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 14:18:14 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown has added five pounds of muscle this offseason because he wants to increase his durability. Brown said training, rest and nutrition have helped to contribute to his success.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has posted ridiculous numbers the last two seasons, finishing as WR3 in 2013 and WR1 in 2014. He's essentially a lock for 100 catches and 1,200 yards and should be in the No. 1 wide receiver conversation heading into 2015 drafts.

Steelers | Antonio Brown not focused on contract

Tue, 26 May 2015 14:03:04 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown did not answer questions on the first day of organized team activities regarding a possible new deal.

Fantasy Tip: Itís a good sign that Brown joined the team for OTAs, possibly indicating that he really is not worried about a new contract at this point. A holdout sounds far from likely, so he'll head into the 2015 season as a candidate for the No. 1 overall fantasy wide receiver, especially in point-per-reception leagues.

Steelers | Antonio Brown present

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 07:45:38 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown was spotted at the team's facility Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Brown was believed to be considering a holdout for a new contract. There's no indication of progress on that front, but it is a good sign. Brown is a first-round consideration universally.

Steelers | Antonio Brown explains absence

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 11:03:18 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown said he is not participating in voluntary workouts because he is spending time with his newborn child. Brown said he will report to offseason workouts at some point and is looking forward to joining his teammates.

Fantasy Tip: It has been reported that Brown is looking for a new contract, but this could also be a reason why he is not attending the workouts. Owners should monitor the situation to see if Brown skips mandatory workouts later in the offseason. Brown should be one of the first wide receivers picked in drafts if he does not hold out.

Steelers | Antonio Brown not at workouts

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 10:31:19 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown is not present for the start of offseason workouts Monday, April 20, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is looking for a new contract and likely will not take part in most of the voluntary workouts. Owners should monitor the situation to see if he will hold out during training camp. Brown could be considered the top fantasy receiver next season if he reports before the start of the regular season.

Steelers | Antonio Brown could hold out

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 08:02:02 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown is seeking a new contract and could hold out from minicamps and training camp, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers usually take care of their own, but it's a situation to watch. Brown had an awesome 129-1,698-13 season last year and is one of the top wide receivers in fantasy football.

Steelers | Antonio Brown sets franchise record

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 14:09:26 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown hauled in 10 receptions for 123 yards in Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons. He set a franchise record for catches in a season with 115, eclipsing the previous mark set by Hines Ward back in 2002 (112).

Fantasy Tip: Brown continues to post ridiculous numbers week in and week out. In FantasyScore he comes with a hefty price tag, but rarely does he have a poor week.

Steelers | Antonio Brown has impressive work ethic

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 13:04:20 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown, who leads the NFL in catches (71) and receiving yards (996), has an incredible work ethic around the team headquarters. Twice a week he'll go to the gym after a full day at the team's facilities. "His work ethic and demeanor and attitude are just unbelievable," QB Ben Roethlisberger said of Brown.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($8,200) is justifiably the highest-priced receiver at FantasyScore, but he should still be a weekly consideration for your lineups, especially against the weak New York Jets secondary in Week 10.

Steelers | Antonio Brown having amazing year

Tue, 28 Oct 2014 12:59:26 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown leads the NFL with 60 catches and is second in receiving yards with 852 after the first eight weeks of the season. Brown is on pace for 120 catches and 1,704 yards, which would both be team records. He set the team record for receiving yards last year with 1,499. Brown has seven touchdowns, which is just one fewer than he had all of last year. He had 10 catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Brown comes into Week 9 as the most expensive wideout at FantasyScore ($8,000; 16.0% of cap). He'll be facing the Baltimore Ravens. It's a tough matchup, but you can't ignore the amount of targets Brown receives on a weekly basis in this offense.

Steelers | Martavis Bryant emerges as another WR option

Tue, 21 Oct 2014 09:48:08 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant cut into WR Markus Wheaton's workload in Week 7 against the Houston Texans, and QB Ben Roethlisberger took three "shot" plays down the field to Bryant. The team is unsettled at receiver behind WR Antonio Brown, with WRs Wheaton, Lance Moore and Darrius Heyward-Bey fighting for targets. It was the first game in which Bryant was active this year.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant had a fine showing on Monday night in his first game this year. However, the second and third options behind Brown are hard to predict right now, making them nothing more than risky flex plays based on matchups.

Steelers | Antonio Brown to come up big again?

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 21:38:06 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown will face the Cleveland Browns in Week 6. He punished he Browns for 116 yards on five receptions with a touchdown in Week 1, and he has 87 or more receiving yards in five of his past six games against Cleveland, scoring four times in those six outings.

Fantasy Tip: Even at $8000 (or 16 percent of the salary cap), Brown is a solid play in FantasyScore leagues against Pittsburgh's AFC North rivals.

Steelers | Antonio Brown cleared to return

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 18:35:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown (head) passed all tests after being evaluated for a concussion and will return to the team's Week 2 Game Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Brown dodged a bullet and avoided any serious injury. After catching 110 balls last year and opening 2014 with five catches for 116 yards and score, Brown has established himself as one of the more reliable fantasy options at the position.

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 18:02:04 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown (head) left the team's Week 2 game Thursday, Sept. 11, and is being evaluated for a possible concussion. His return is questionable.

Fantasy Tip: Check back for updates on the exact diagnosis and severity of Brown's injury. If he is forced to miss any time going forward, Markus Wheaton could potentially become a great value pick in FantasyScore in the coming weeks.

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 15:28:15 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown has been fined $8,200 for cleating Cleveland Browns P Spencer Lanning in the face in Sunday's game, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Brown wasn't suspended, so this ruling really has no bearing on his fantasy value. He's still a top-tier fantasy wide receiver.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury), WR Antonio Brown (non-injury) and QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury) practiced in full Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Steelers | Antonio Brown has solid game

Mon, 08 Sep 2014 10:11:15 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown finished with five catches for 116 yards and a touchdown in the season-opening win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday, Sept. 7. He also drew a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness for kicking Browns PK Spencer Lanning. Brown could face a fine from the league.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is the team's No. 1 receiver, and he held his own in the matchup against Joe Haden. Brown should be started on a weekly basis in standard leagues, and he's not a bad bet in FantasyScore games most weeks.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: ESPN.com - Scott Brown

Steelers | Lance Moore won't play

Fri, 05 Sep 2014 13:31:46 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Lance Moore (groin) did not practice Friday, Sept. 5, and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. It'll open up snaps for WRs Justin Brown and/or Martavis Bryant (shoulder), but Bryant is unlikely to play because of a shoulder ailment. That means Brown and WR Darrius Heyward-Bey will likely be used alongside WRs Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton. Browns CB Joe Haden is likely to lock on to Brown for the majority of the game, meaning the other receivers could see good opportunities to make an impact.

Fantasy Tip: Wheaton presents an excellent buying opportunity at FantasyScore against the Browns at a price of $3,700 (7.4% of cap) - the basement salary for a wideout.

Steelers | Three fighting for No. 5 WR job

Mon, 07 Jul 2014 15:59:32 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Justin Brown, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Derek Moye are still battling for the No. 5 wide receiver job. WRs Antonio Brown, Lance Moore, Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant hold the top four spots on the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: There isn't a lot of fantasy value to go around after Brown, Wheaton and Moore. Bryant is worthy of a late-round flier in deep leagues, given his size in comparison to the Steelers other receivers, and potential end zone usage. Heyward-Bey should stick with the team, leaving recently-drafted Brown to beat out Moye, who failed to see much playing time in 2013, after breaking camp as an undrafted free agent.

Steelers | Antonio Brown stronger

Wed, 04 Jun 2014 09:28:31 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown has added "about five or six pounds" of muscle to his frame this offseason as he tries to get stronger for the 2014 season. "I fizzled out at the end of the year," Brown said. "I left some balls out there that I usually get. Gotta do a better job." Brown set a team record for receiving yards (1,499) and was three catches short of breaking the team reception record set by Hines Ward in 2002.

Fantasy Tip: It'll be tough for Brown to replicate his numbers from a season ago, but he still has Big Ben throwing him the rock. That's gotta count for something. Brown should remain a very solid WR2.
