Browns | Still looking for a WR in draft

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said the team still has time to address their receiving corps in the NFL Draft. "We still have some picks left and some guys we like," Heckert said. "We'll see what happens after tomorrow and discuss it if we don't have any." Heckert added, however, that he didn't want to take a receiver just to take one.

Browns | Know player they want at No. 4

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said the team is unanimous on the player they'll select with the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Heckert wouldn't reveal the player's identity, but based on the team's current needs, it's safe to assume the Browns are considering Alabama RB Trent Richardson and Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon. Heckert said the Browns need "guys who can score points." He described both players as "class guys."

Browns | Will not be influenced by Minnesota's draft choice

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said it "wouldn't affect us that much" if the Minnesota Vikings traded their No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft because the Browns would be happy with several players at No. 4. Heckert didn't indicate who he'll take, but he has praised Alabama RB Trent Richardson and Louisiana State CB Morris Claiborne. The Browns also worked out Southern California OT Matt Kalil twice.

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said he would prefer to keep the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL Draft and that he would probably not trade down more than a few spots. However, when pressed on the subject, Heckert would not rule out trading out of the top 10.

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert reportedly loves Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon and that would be his pick with the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL Draft; however, president Mike Holmgren is still trying to decide with finality if Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill is the franchise quarterback worth taking.

Browns | Interested in Kevin Kolb?

The Cleveland Browns could pursue Arizona Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb after losing out on the possibility to select Baylor QB Robert Griffin III in the NFL Draft. General manager Tom Heckert drafted Kolb with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007 and thinks he can still be a successful NFL quarterback. "I still think Kevin is going to be a good player," Heckert said. "Time will tell on that. He hasn't really played a whole lot. Even last year he was hurt."

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said there are four college quarterback prospects the team could select in the NFL Draft. "There are four quarterbacks we feel comfortable saying will be really good," Heckert said. He wouldn't elaborate beyond Stanford QB Andrew Luck and Baylor QB Robert Griffin III, but he spoke glowingly of Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden.

Browns | Tom Heckert underwent heart surgery

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren said general manager Tom Heckert underwent heart surgery to clear a blockage. Heckert is doing well in his recovery and is expected to be at the team's facility Tuesday, Feb. 28.
