Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said the class of quarterback prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft is better than people think, and there is one worthy of being selected No. 8 overall. "You know, I think there is," Nix said. "And also I've said from Day One this quarterback class is better than everybody thinks it is. It's better than the publicity they get. By that I mean there's about five or six of those guys, maybe seven, that do a lot of things good and do 'em good enough to win."

Bills | Want a QB in the draft

Sat, 22 Dec 2012 08:27:32 -0800

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said the team will look to trade up in the NFL Draft to select a quarterback. "Let me say this: I think there's a time that in the era that you're in and the development of your team, there's a time when you can move up a round to take a quarterback," Nix said. "And I think the time's now for us. I mean, if a guy's there - I keep saying that, and there will be one out there - if the guy's there, then I think we'll target - as I've said before - drafting a good quarterback. We need a good, young quarterback, and we're going to do our best to get him."

Bills | Ready to draft a QB

Fri, 09 Nov 2012 10:25:19 -0800

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix continues to emphasize the need for the team to acquire a franchise quarterback, and he went as far as saying that the team needs to draft a quarterback in next spring's draft. "Let me be as honest as I can," Nix said. "I think we really need to address it this year. The thing we can't do is you can't create one. You can't go out, thinking 'I've got to make this guy a player.' If you do, then you're going to be in a bigger mess. We don't want to do that. We try to guard against that." However, he suggested they may not select a QB with their first-round pick because there aren't many quarterbacks in the upcoming class worthy of that.

Bills | HC receives vote of confidence

Sat, 03 Nov 2012 05:42:16 -0700

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said head coach Chan Gailey's job is secure. Nix referred to Gailey as being one of the NFL's best offensive coaches, and added that having the team make another coaching switch would only set back their development. "I hope I can put that to rest," Nix said. "It's the age-old thing, and they've done it around here for years. They start over about every three years. What that does is make damn sure that you don't make it. That's what it does."

"It's time to close it out and win some games. Until we do, it's not complete."

"Buddy caught me in the hallway one day and said, 'We're looking to create some competition for the number two spot at quarterback, we are bringing in Vince Young. We made him an offer. We'll see if he comes. But just to let you know, obviously, you are our guy and we are just trying to get better at every position.' And when people are upfront and honest with you and telling you what is going on, then it makes everything go much smoother."

Allen Wilson, of The Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix likes the proposed rule that would change overtime in postseason games. Fans want it and what it does is if you're a team that gets beat without ever touching the ball by a field goal, obviously you feel that you've been cheated if you don't get a shot at it. I probably shouldn't say this, I usually do anyway, but I think any time you take a kick out of it, a field goal out of the equation, then it helps."
