The Seattle Mariners signed 18 players to one-year contracts Monday, Feb. 27, including C Jesus Montero and Justin Smoak. The others signed were Ps Blake Beavan, Steve Delabar, Lucas Luetge, Yoervis Medina, Hector Noesi, Mauricio Robles and Chance Ruffin, Cs John Jaso and Adam Moore, INFs Alex Liddi, Francisco Martinez, Kyle Seager and Carlos Triunfel and OFs Johermyn Chavez, Chih-Hsien Chiang and Carlos Peguero. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Seattle Mariners OF Trayvon Robinson said he focused on using his hands more at the plate this offseason. Robinson will be competing with OFs Mike Carp, Casper Wells, Michael Saunders, Carlos Peguero, Johermyn Chavez and Chih-Hsien Chiang for the left field job.

Seattle Mariners OFs Johermyn Chavez and Carlos Peguero have gotten off to good starts in the spring, with Peguero hitting a home run Sunday, Feb. 27, and Chavez hitting one Monday, Feb. 28, reports Geoff Baker, of The Seattle Times. Chavez and Peguero are still considered long shots to make the roster out of camp.
