Eagles | Darren Sproles to be traded?

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 10:50:05 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles could be traded this offseason, in the opinion of NJ.com's Elliot Shorr-Parks. Shorr-Parks views Sproles as a logical and likely trade candidate, with Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner as the two running backs who will make the final roster.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles would be a valuable asset to any NFL backfield, and it would make sense for the Eagles to trade him if they want another draft pick after trading away so many for the No. 2 overall pick this year. Mathews figures to be the primary ball carrier for now, and he has RB2 upside if he can stay healthy.

Eagles | Two teams interested in Ryan Mathews

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 09:16:47 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews is a player the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys are interested in if the Eagles make him available. Sources said it's unlikely the Eagles would trade him to a division rival in Dallas or their former head coach Chip Kelly's new team in San Francisco.

Fantasy Tip: Mathews is a solid RB3 in PPR formats. His outlook will change drastically, though, if the team selects Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott at No. 8.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews could see boost in value

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 17:03:25 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews likely will generate more fantasy value if he stays with the Eagles because of the impending trade of RB DeMarco Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Mathews is in line to receive a majority of the work at running back if he stays with the team. He should be given the opportunity to produce in the running and passing game under head coach Doug Pederson. Mathews probably would be a No. 2 running back in most leagues next season and could have even more value in point-per-reception leagues because of his potential role in the passing game.

Eagles | Two Philly running backs available

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 11:52:42 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews is also available via trade, for the right price, in addition to RB DeMarco Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Murray's displeasure and lack of production with the Eagles have been well chronicled, but Mathews' availability is kind of a surprise. There is a new regime in town now, though, and they may want to start over, except for Sam Bradford of course. Darren Sproles may stay, too, and should be viewed as a low-end RB2 in PPR leagues.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews to get FB

Sat, 23 Jan 2016 15:55:31 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RBs DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews are expected to have company in the backfield in 2016, as head coach Doug Pederson has liked to have a fullback on the roster and use him to block in the running game.

Fantasy Tip: Murray might especially benefit from a more power running game attack, similar to his last years in Dallas. He could be a big-time fantasy sleeper, as some stay away from him from a lack of production in 2015 under the old regime. Mathews will once again be a solid handcuff and mid- to late-round fantasy pick if and when Murray goes down.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews to sit about six weeks

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 11:12:50 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (groin) is expected to be sidelined around six weeks after he recently underwent surgery, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Mathews probably will be able to participate in some of the offseason workouts but will not be rushed back on the field. Mathews probably will have a similar role on offense next season and could be a middle- to late-round pick in most leagues.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews undergoes surgery

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 10:19:33 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (groin) recently underwent groin surgery, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Mathews probably will miss some of the offseason workouts but should be ready for training camp if he does not suffer a setback. Mathews finished the 2015 season with 539 rushing yards and 146 receiving yards with seven total touchdowns. He may have a similar role next season and could be a middle- to late-round option in most drafts.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray plays eight snaps

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 05:22:15 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray played just eight snaps (12% of the offense) Sunday, Dec. 20. RB Darren Sproles played 30 snaps (47%), and Ryan Mathews played 26 (41%).

Fantasy Tip: Murray can't be used in fantasy right now. Sproles and Mathews splitting the work hurts each other's value, but they are decent flex options.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray says he's fresh

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 09:38:13 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray has seen his role in the offense reduced drastically the last two weeks, and through 12 games this year he has just 174 carries compared to 287 rushes through 12 games with the Dallas Cowboys in 2014. As a result, Murray said it's the freshest he's been this time of year. Despite voicing his displeasure to owner Jeff Lurie two weeks ago, Murray said he's happy and committed to returning to the Eagles next year. Murray had 11 carries last week to RB Ryan Mathews' 13 and RB Darren Sproles' seven.

Fantasy Tip: It's clear now that Murray ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) isn't the lead back in Philly anymore, and Chip Kelly is going with a three-headed committee in the backfield. That makes it really tough to rely on any one rusher in this backfield, especially in Week 15 against the top-five defense of the Arizona Cardinals.

Eagles | Darren Sproles leads team in rushing

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:29:18 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown on seven carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. RB Ryan Mathews rushed for 38 yards on 13 carries, while RB DeMarco Murray rushed for 34 yards on 11 carries.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles spread the carries between the three runners but none had great success on the ground. All three probably will continue to receive carries with Sproles possibly being the most value in terms of fantasy because of his ability to produce in the running and passing game.
