Mets | Hope Travis d'Arnaud avoids surgery

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 20:13:43 -0700

Updating a previous report, the New York Mets are hopeful C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) is nursing a strained right rotator cuff, and the team is hopeful he can heal quickly without surgery.

Fantasy Tip: With d'Arnaud on the shelf it is Kevin Plawecki and Rene Rivera serving as the top two backstops, with Plawecki expected to handle a lion's share of the starts behind the dish.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud placed on DL

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 11:28:45 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right rotator cuff strain Tuesday, April 26, and the Mets purchased the contract of C Rene Rivera from Class AAA Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: A slow start (.196/.288/.261 with no home runs) just got even worse for d'Arnaud. This could be an injury that could require surgery and keep him out for an extended timeline, too, so stay tuned for updates. If you don't have the room to stash in shallow mixed leagues, you may be forced to drop him. Kevin Plawecki should see the majority of starts behind the plate but is nothing more than a second catcher in two-backstop leagues.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud set for shoulder exam

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 22:00:43 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) left the game Monday, April 25, against the Cincinnati Reds due to shoulder soreness. If he needs a stint on the 15-day disabled list, C Kevin Plawecki would be the regular backstop with C Rene Rivera coming up from Class AAA Las Vegas to serve as the backup.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud should be avoided in all NL-only fantasy leagues and DFS play until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Mets | David Wright, Travis d'Arnaud out

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 09:18:24 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Aaron Blair Sunday, April 24. INF Wilmer Flores will play the hot corner and bat sixth, while C Kevin Plawecki will bat seventh and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure Wright and d'Arnaud are removed from all fantasy lineups Sunday. Both Flores and Plawecki should be viewed as inexpensive flier options for daily contests.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud continues to struggle

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 22:33:47 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud was hitless in three at-bats with a run scored and walk Friday, April 22, against the Atlanta Braves, dropping his average to .158.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud has struggled with just one RBI through his first 11 games, and the run scored was his first of the season. He is still worth using in NL-only fantasy leagues since you'll struggle to find better replacements on the waiver wire, but avoid him in mixed play for now.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud returns

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 12:35:01 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vince Velasquez Tuesday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: D'arnaud is off to a bad start with just three hits in 25 at-bats, and it's a tough matchup against a Phillies stud pitcher that fanned 16 San Diego Padres in his last outing. Avoid d'Arnaud in daily formats and consider benching him everywhere else until he gets going.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud expected back Tuesday

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 13:35:07 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) is expected to return to the lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez Tuesday, April 19, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Be prepared to return d'Arnaud to your seasonal lineups Tuesday, but with the daunting pitching matchup, he is a risky option for daily contests. Through 268 plate appearances in 2015, d'Arnaud returned a .268/.340/.485 slash line, which keeps him well within starter territory among his peers behind the plate.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud remains sidelined

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 11:58:27 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) remains out of the starting lineup Monday, April 18. C Kevin Plawecki is behind the plate again and is batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud remains day-to-day after being hit by a pitch over the weekend. His cold start (.120/.267/.160) is another reason to keep him benched for now. Plawecki has some surprising pop but remains more of a low-end cheap catcher flyer to save salary cap space tonight in daily formats.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki batting ninth

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 07:28:34 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Sunday, April 17. C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) is not in the starting lineup Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud is expected to miss a few games with an elbow contusion, so Plawecki will have a fleeting boost of fantasy value. Plawecki owns a .218/.284/.294 slash line through 265 career plate appearances, though, so he is a low-end option in all formats. You'll want to steer clear against Kluber in daily contests Sunday, too.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud hopes to miss minimal time

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 06:50:19 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) hopes to miss just a few games with a left elbow contusion, he said Saturday, April 16.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets don't have a day off until Thursday, April 21, but it sounds like d'Arnaud will be back in the lineup by then. In the meantime, Kevin Plawecki will see time behind the plate, and he is a potential low-priced flier in daily contests. Stay tuned for updates on d'Arnaud's status.
