Mets | Travis d'Arnaud goes the distance

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 21:32:28 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) caught a full game Tuesday, July 28, for Class AA Binghamton for the first time during his minor-league rehab assignment. He was 1-for-4 with a run scored. He is scheduled to catch another full game for the B-Mets Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has 15 at-bats under his belt during his rehab assignment. He could be back as soon as this weekend, but FantasyScore players will want to give him at least a full game to prove his health before trusting him again.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud rehabs

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 09:15:32 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) had two singles in five at-bats as the designated hitter for Class AA Binghamton in his second rehab game Sunday, July 26.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has been a maddening fantasy baseball commodity because of his inability to stay healthy for his owners. He can be a nice value play in daily games when he returns, and in the meantime, Kevin Plawecki ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) isn't a bad source of value himself.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud takes batting practice

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 16:40:59 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) participated in batting practice Tuesday, July 21, for the second straight day. He is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Class A St. Lucie later this week.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has not played since June 20 but appears to close to returning to the Mets. He likely will play in several rehab games because he is activated from the disabled list.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud out of brace

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 18:30:20 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) is no longer wearing an elbow brace, according to general manager Sandy Alderson Wednesday, July 15. Alderson said d'Arnaud is doing limited baseball activities.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) remains high on potential, but has compiled just 77 plate appearances through 19 games played. The young catcher is still worth stashing in any league with at least 12 teams, if owners have an available DL spot.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud close to rehab assignment

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 12:01:50 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) is making improvement from a sprained left elbow, and he's moving closer to playing in rehab games. He last played in a major league game June 20, and he's been limited to just 19 games this year.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has hit well when he's been on the field (.296-4-17), but his inability to stay healthy has his owners ripping their hair out. He can be a useful FantasyScore commodity as a value pick when he returns, and check to see if his previous owner let him go in your leagues.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud still idle

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 05:27:29 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) is still in a brace for his sprained left elbow.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud will need a few weeks once he begins baseball activities to be ready for a return. Keep him stashed in NL-only and two-catcher mixed leagues.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud still in brace

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:13:44 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) remains in an elbow brace for his sprain.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud has no timetable for a return and probably won't be back until later this month, at the earliest. Kevin Plawecki ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Johnny Monell ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will continue to share the catching duties in the meantime. Neither backstop is anything more than a low-end sleeper play that gives you salary cap relief on FantasyScore.

Mets | Several NY hitters struggled against Giants

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 11:06:14 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (9-for-52), SS Ruben Tejada (1-for-27) and C Travis d'Arnaud (3-for-24) have struggled in the last 13 meetings with the San Francisco Giants. The Mets face the Giants in a series starting Monday, July 6.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has just nine hits in his last 65 at-bats (.138) since June 17 with one home run and five RBI. Tejada ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has seven hits in his last 46 at-bats (.152) even after recording three hits last night. Against Giants starter Chris Heston, who no hit the Mets the last time he faced them, neither Duda nor Tejada are intriguing FantasyScore plays Monday.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud not close to returning

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 18:58:47 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) has not yet been cleared to resume baseball activities, according to general manager Sandy Alderson. He continues to wear a protective brace for much of the day and is undergoing physical therapy to address the mobility of the elbow in both directions.

Fantasy Tip: Kevin Plawecki ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) will continue to be the primary starter behind the plate while d'Arnaud is sidelined, with Johnny Monell ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) backing him up and playing once or twice a week. Neither player is a great FantasyScore option.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud injury update

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 14:08:22 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a hyperextended elbow.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) likely will miss several weeks because of the injury. Kevin Plawecki ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Johnny Monell should both receive starts while d'Arnaud is out, but neither player is a great option on FantasyScore.
