Titans | Jake Locker sits out

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 14:30:07 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist), who suffered a strained right wrist in Week 3, did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 24. His right hand looked swollen, and he barely moved it after speaking with reporters following practice. An MRI exam earlier this week showed no structural damage. "I'm getting better each day," Locker said. "It was something I felt a little bit during the game, and then when the adrenaline stopped, it started hurting a little more. I'm just working as hard as I can to get back as soon as possible." If Locker can't play in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts, QB Charlie Whitehurst would start.

Fantasy Tip: The Titans are unlikely to make a ruling on Locker until later this week. He'll cost you a cool $6,600 (13.2% of cap) at FantasyScore in Week 4. Consider other options, since Locker may not be close to 100 percent in this one.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) has a wrist strain, according to an MRI. The quarterback's status for Week 4 is still uncertain.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound too serious, but it still might be best to stay away from Locker this week given the fact that he won't be 100 percent even if he does start.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) underwent an MRI Monday, Sept. 22, on the wrist injury he suffered in the team's Week 3 game. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he is not sure if Locker will be able to play in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Charlie Whitehurst would get the start if Locker is not able to play. Even if Locker is able to play, he is not a great option to use in fantasy leagues. Owners should avoid using a Titans quarterback this week.

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 15:19:04 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker remains the starting quarterback, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Sunday, Sept. 21, that he never considered benching Locker despite a lopsided loss in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Titans | Jake Locker more patient

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 14:22:31 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker stayed in the pocket in Sunday's game more frequently than he has throughout his career. In fact, Locker didn't attempt a pass from outside the pocket, according to ESPN. Locker's patience helped him tally 266 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: If Locker can maintain his composure in the pocket instead of rolling outside of the pocket as he's been prone to do in his injury-riddled career, he could end up being a very pleasant surprise in 2014. He's definitely worth a shot this week against a suspect Dallas Cowboys secondary for $6,400 on FantasyScore.

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 12:31:10 -0700

Tennesse Titans QB Jake Locker said the offensive rhythm was better in practice Monday, July 28. Locker said he's focusing on accuracy during training camp as head coach Ken Whisenhunt has challenged him in that area.

Fantasy Tip: Locker is too much of an injury risk to be considered for QB1 status. Draft him as a streaming option or backup.

Titans | Coach says Jake Locker has good footwork

Wed, 02 Jul 2014 10:25:30 -0700

Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach John McNulty said QB Jake Locker uses good posture in the pocket and plays on his toes, which helps him move from one target to another. "Once you step to one guy, you can't just step over. You've got to be in that football position and move your whole operation. I think that helps him, he plays kind of up on his toes, he's always in a football position. Some of these big guys are straight up and down and when their first guy is not there, their foot is planted and they just step to the next guy. It's really as much getting your shoulders and hips in line as it is your feet. The way he plays, he's able to do that," McNulty said.

Fantasy Tip: Locker likely will be the team's starting quarterback this upcoming season but probably should not be seen as more than a low-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Titans | Looking for Jake Locker to be pocket passer

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 12:47:42 -0700

Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt is looking to make QB Jake Locker a pocket passer in his offense even though mobility is one of Locker's strengths. The team will still use rollouts and bootlegs at times but most of Locker's passes will come out of the pocket. Whisenhunt has been happy with how well Locker has picked up the offense this offseason. "Jake works hard," Whisenhunt said. "He's done a great job as far as studying the offense and understanding his reads. He's really done a good job with a lot of little things - his footwork, his techniques."

Wed, 25 Jun 2014 18:45:57 -0700

Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Jason Michael said he has been happy with how QB Jake Locker (foot) performed this offseason. "From day one, he's worked his butt off from rehabilitation of his foot to jumping in the playbook, to how he's gone about his preparation on the field. It's been a frustrating go at times with his foot, but he's never shown it. He's a poised man. I'm excited about working with him. He does some good things that we've already seen," Michael said.

Titans | Jake Locker making progress

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 10:53:34 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) said an indicator of his progress this offseason has been connecting visualizations with verbiage. Locker said he'll be really comfortable with the new offense once he's able to "paint a picture" of a play. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said it's good Locker is feeling more comfortable, but he's not there yet.

Fantasy Tip: The main question surrounding Locker hasn't been comfort in the offense, it's been health. Whether he feels more comfortable or not, we're still not comfortable drafting him as more than a low-end QB2.

Titans | Jake Locker receives praise from QB coach

Mon, 09 Jun 2014 12:10:30 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) is proving he's the leader of the Titans, according to quarterbacks coach John McNulty. McNulty added that Locker's work ethic and intangibles are unquestioned. The fourth-year quarterback is comfortable with his reads and has shown good footwork and decision-making. He is ahead of schedule in recovering from a Lisfranc injury and surgery last year.

Fantasy Tip: This is encouraging news from McNulty, but Locker is too big of a risk to even be drafted. Hes missed 15 games the past two seasons due to injuries and is a bye-week replacement or streaming option at best in 2014.

The Tennessee Titans will not exercise the fifth-year option on QB Jake Locker's contract, meaning he will be playing for his future with the organization in 2014. The Titans have yet to officially announce their decision. Locker is scheduled to make $2.091 million this year.

Fantasy Tip: Locker, who has been injured for much of his time with the team, will have to prove he's worthy of sticking around in 2014, and that'll start with staying on the field. He'll be in competition for the starting QB job in training camp. Going into the year, Locker is a QB3 with upside.

Titans | Jake Locker injury update

Fri, 28 Mar 2014 11:22:57 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) has moved on to a different stage in his rehabilitation and is no longer in a walking boot. Locker is hoping to take part in organized team activities in June. "Surgery went really well. Foot feels awesome and rehab is up and rolling," Locker said. "Doctors were happy with how things looked so (I'm) just continuing to follow that trend."

Fantasy Tip: All good news for Locker. Assuming he continues to make progress, he should be good to go for training camp. Locker should be considered a No. 3 QB at this point considering he is not a shoe-in for the starting job. The team could also draft another QB this year, and have Charlie Whitehurst on the roster if Locker struggles.
