Lions | Rival critical of Ndamukong Suh

Wed, 10 Oct 2012 07:08:51 -0700

An anonymous general manager said Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh is one of the league's most overrated players. "Suh belongs on the All-Hype team," the general manager said. "I have listened to the media hype about Suh since he got in the league - what has he done? Even the year he had all those garbage sacks, the guy took a million plays off and got pushed around in the run game. I have never thought he was a very good pro player. I liked him coming out and thought he had a chance. But I also never thought he was going to be the second coming that he was labeled. I am not sure who bestowed that on him, but it is kind of a joke."

Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh had a strong day of practice Tuesday, Aug. 14, and is making strides to return to the dominant force on the defensive line that he was in his rookie season. "In my opinion, Suh is practicing better now than he ever has since he's been here," defensive line coach Kris Kocurek said. "He's working. He went back and reviewed everything he did last year, and even the previous year, and tried to pick things out in his game that he needed to improve. Basically, a lot of it is just consistency in what we're trying to do. Fine tuning small details that are going to help him be more productive, and be the player he wants to be on Sunday."

Lions | Expect Ndamukong Suh to take next step

Mon, 18 Jun 2012 05:33:20 -0700

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham said he expects DL Ndamukong Suh and the defense to take the next step this season. Suh posted just 36 tackles and four sacks in 14 games last season. "What we've done this spring, I cut up all the plays - every snap he had (in 2011) - and I showed him," Cunningham said. "I said, 'Now you tell me what happens during a game.' In college, you have 85 to 90 plays, but in the NFL you have 60 to 65, so you can't relax on a play here and there and then start looking for the plays, looking for the shots - hitting the quarterback for a sack. He finally realized that when I showed him the tape."
