The Cincinnati Reds have optioned SP Andrew Brackman, OF Denis Phipps and INF Chris Valaika to Triple-A Louisville. They have also reassigned RPs Carlos Fisher, Ron Mahay, Kanekoa Texeira and Clay Zavada and SP Clayton Tanner to minor league camp.

The Cincinnati Reds signed free-agents C Brian Esposito (Reds), RP Sean Gallagher (Reds), RP Jeremy Horst (Reds), OF Daryl Jones (Cardinals), C Corky Miller (Reds), SP Chad Reineke (Reds), RP Clayton Tanner (Cardinals) and RP Kanekoa Texeira (Reds) to minor-league deals, and each received an invite to spring training as a non-roster player.

Royals | Robinson Tejeda update

Updating a previous item, Kansas City Royals RP Robinson Tejeda is being demoted from the setup role because of his diminished fastball velocity, according to MLB.com's Dick Kaegel. "I'll back him off some until he gets his velocity back," manager Ned Yost said. Tejeda usually throws in the mid 90s, but his fastball was registering in the high 80s Tuesday, April 12. RPs Aaron Crow, Jeremy Jeffress, Kanekoa Texeira and Tim Collins will all be used in late-inning situations.

Ps Louis Coleman, Tim Collins, Aaron Crow, Jeremy Jeffress, Luis Mendoza and Kanekoa Texeira are competing for the final four spots. Collins appears to be a lock for one of the spots, and Crow, Jeffress and Texeira have the edge for the other spots.
