Lions | Golden Tate busy in road victory

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 19:10:04 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate finished with eight receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown on his nine targets in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has eight receptions in back-to-back games, and he has managed at least three receptions in each of his 13 games this season. He also returned to the end zone for the first time in four games. Tate has been a steady low-end WR2 or must-start WR3 in most fantasy leagues this season.

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 19:39:39 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate caught eight passes on 10 targets for 69 yards in a 44-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: It was Tate's most receptions since the season opener, but he remains on pace for 90-plus catches. His safe floor makes him a WR2 candidate in PPR format against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14.

Lions | Golden Tate quiet in Week 12

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 17:19:51 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate caught four passes for seven yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. He also rushed for 13 yards on two carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Tate was not able to get on track against the Vikings and has been held to 39 receiving yards in the last two games. He continues to be one of the top targets in the passing game for the Lions and can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.

Lions | Golden Tate does nothing in win

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 14:36:17 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate racked up three receptions for 32 yards in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Tate tied a season-low with just three receptions. He also had three catches in Week 4 against the Vikings, the team's next opponent in Week 12 on Thanksgiving.

Lions | Golden Tate displaying rare consistency

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 17:22:53 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate has played only 59.2 percent of his team's snaps in the four games since suffering a Week 6 shoulder injury that was expected to keep him out multiple weeks. Over that same time, Tate has posted at least 85 receiving yards in every contest - the only player in the NFL to put together such a streak that long in the last two years.

Fantasy Tip: He's also caught at least six passes in each of those games, making him a veritable PPR goldmine over the last month. Tate is a handful for many of the league's best corners, but spends much of his time in the slot, increasing his potential to catch Matthew Stafford's eye on a regular basis. Tate's relative lack of touchdowns keeps him from entering the high-end WR1 conversation, but he offers one of the safest floors among receivers in fantasy year after year.

Lions | Golden Tate just misses century mark

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 13:55:58 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate racked up six receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns and he was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has really turned it up lately, posting six or more receptions in each of his past four outings with at least 86 yards. The former Notre Dame receiver is a legitimate low-end WR1 in PPR fantasy leagues right now, and a useful WR2 or flex option in standard play heading into Week 11.

Lions | Golden Tate logs season high in yardage

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 20:51:58 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate caught seven of nine targets for 113 yards in the team's Week 9 win Monday, Nov. 6, versus the Green Bay Packers. It was a season high for Tate in receiving yardage.

Fantasy Tip: This was also the second time Tate has reached the 100-yard plateau this season, and first since the opening week, when he had 10 catches for 107 yards against Arizona. Owners would surely like more touchdowns, as the former Seahawk has just two on the campaign, but overall, Tate is a fine WR2 option to trot out on a weekly basis due to his excessive number of targets. Hopefully he's able to pad his touchdown total through the second half of the year.

Lions | Golden Tate delivers with seven grabs

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 20:53:24 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate hauled in seven receptions for 86 yards on eight targets in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: Tate was gimpy in practice after an ankle injury last week in New Orleans, but he quickly shook that off and had a nice game for fantasy owners. He did not seem to have any restrictions or a snap count in this one, and he can be trusted heading into Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers.

Lions | Golden Tate active for SNF

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 16:15:39 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) is active for the Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Tate was listed as questionable due to an AC joint sprain, but he made it through all three practice sessions this week as well as satisfying the coaching staff with the pregame workouts. We'll keep an eye on him to see if he plays a decreased amount of snaps or he can play without limitations.

Lions | Golden Tate hoping to play

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 06:06:05 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) is preparing to play in Week 8's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Tate was listed as questionable on the injury report due to an AC joint sprain but was able to take part in all three practice sessions during the week. The Lions have a Sunday night game this week and Tate could see a limited number of snaps, making him a very risky fantasy option. If he is active, he should be viewed as a WR3.

Lions | Questionable tag for Golden Tate

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 13:14:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 27, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Tate appears to have a decent chance to play but owners will need to check the inactive list to see if he will be in uniform. He is a risky option since the Lions play on Sunday Night Football, so owners will need other options available if they want to use Tate. He will be facing one of the best passing defenses in the NFL but can still be a No. 3 receiver in most leagues if he is active.

Lions | Golden Tate practicing Friday

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 08:40:28 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) is practicing Friday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if he was a full participant, but his week-long participation bodes well for him playing this week. He would be a WR3 option against the New Orleans Saints due to possible limitations.

Lions | Golden Tate remains limited

Thu, 26 Oct 2017 13:20:19 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Tate may be a game-time decision this week, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He is a solid fantasy option when he is healthy, but owners will need other options available in case he is ruled out for the game.

Lions | Golden Tate iffy for Week 8

Thu, 26 Oct 2017 09:40:45 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) said he's rehabbing his shoulder hard, but he doesn't know if he'll be ready for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: We'll know more Friday, but it's hard to lean on him this week as he could be limited against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Lions | Golden Tate limited in practice

Wed, 25 Oct 2017 15:14:34 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Tate reportedly had his arm in a sling and was expected to miss "a few weeks", so it's a good sign he was able to do anything. Even though he was able to practice, wait until Friday when the official injury report comes out before deciding on him if you normally rely upon him in fantasy leagues.

Lions | Golden Tate back at practice?

Wed, 25 Oct 2017 11:46:33 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Reports over the weekend stated Tate's arm was in a sling and previous reports suggested Tate would miss "a few weeks" with a sprained AC joint, so any kind of practice qualifies as amazing progress. Skepticism is advised here, and the fact Detroit plays on Sunday night means owners should not count on him this weekend. However, until more information becomes available, it appears Tate's absence may not be as long as initially thought.

Lions | Golden Tate expected to miss a few weeks

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 10:14:22 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo an MRI soon, but the expectation is he will miss "some time," according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Tate and his fantasy owners catch a bit of a break with Detroit on bye in Week 7, but the source believes he will miss a few weeks, leaving the Lions without their top receiver. His expected absence could free up targets in the slot for Eric Ebron or help the team get Theo Riddick more involved in the passing game once again. Detroit could also be getting Kenny Golladay from a hamstring injury, although he is not going to replace Tate's snaps in the slot.

Lions | Golden Tate suffers shoulder injury

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 17:56:37 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury late in the third quarter of the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Tate had a nice game, so hopefully this injury isn't something to keep him out long. The good news is that he has two weeks to rest with the bye Week 7.

Lions | Golden Tate posts 96 yards, TD

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 16:54:22 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate racked up seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Tate had his largest yardage total since he opened the season with 107 yards on 10 grabs in Week 1 against the Cardinals. He has been a bit erratic so far this season, but he has WR3 potential when the matchup is favorable. Unfortunately the Lions have a bye in Week 7.

Lions | Golden Tate has torched the Saints

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 21:06:57 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 6, and he has averaged eight catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in his last three meetings with the Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Tate leads the team in targets, receptions and yards, and he should be a strong WR2 in a friendly matchup against the Saints.

Lions | Four grabs for Golden Tate

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 15:25:22 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate managed five catches for 48 yards on eight targets in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has 29 grabs on 40 targets through five games which is good for fantasy owners, but he hasn't had a 100-yard game since Week 1 while visiting the end zone just once back in Week 3. Both of those streaks could end in Week 6 when he faces a favorable matchup down in New Orleans.

Lions | Golden Tate totals four touches

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 15:02:47 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted three receptions for 29 yards on five targets in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings and he added one run for just two yards.

Fantasy Tip: There will be better days for Tate. He has been limited to 14 receptions for just 112 yards over the past three games after exploding for 107 receiving yards in Week 1. He still has 24 grabs over his four games and remains a decent PPR fantasy option heading into Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Lions | Golden Tate posts four receptions

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 20:50:02 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted four catches for 25 yards in Week 2 against the New York Giants on Monday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Tate had four of the six catches by Detroit wide receivers, but no one really had a huge night with an offense that was run heavy. He'll look for better results in Week 3 against the visiting Falcons.

Lions | Golden Tate on track to play

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 11:25:11 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (finger) fully participated in practice Saturday, Sept. 16, and is not on the injury report for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Tate recorded 10 catches and 107 yards in Week 1 and will continue to be a focal point in the passing game. He will be facing a tougher defense this week but should still be at least a No. 2 fantasy receiver in all leagues.

Lions | Golden Tate a full-go Friday

Fri, 15 Sep 2017 14:32:44 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (finger) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Tate is expected to play without a hitch Monday night. The matchup is difficult, so he's a low-end WR2, in best-case scenario this week.

Lions | Golden Tate limited due to finger

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 13:30:17 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (finger) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Tate doesn't appear to be in serious jeopardy of missing out on Week 2, but his status should be tracked heading into the weekend nonetheless. Assuming he's good to go, he's a solid WR2 play.

Lions | Golden Tate racks up 107 yards

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 16:34:29 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted game highs with 10 receptions and 107 yards in Week 1 against the Cardinals. He was targeted 12 times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate is Matthew Stafford's top target and he certainly looked the part in the opener. Despite the fact he drew Patrick Peterson in cover, he showed well. He'll look to build on this effort into Week 2 at N.Y. Giants. Tate remains a WR2 in most fantasy leagues.

Lions | Golden Tate to draw Patrick Peterson

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 20:42:19 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate will likely be shadowed by Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson in Week 1, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Tate is the top option in the Detroit passing attack and a WR2 candidate most weeks, but a matchup with one of the best corners in the game downgrades him into WR3 territory in Week 1.

Lions | Golden Tate a popular target

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 18:59:46 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate caught all five passes thrown his way for 62 yards against the New England Patriots in the preseason Friday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Tate looked every bit the part of Matthew Stafford's go-to target, and he should be one of the safest WR2 options, especially in PPR formats.

Lions | Golden Tate could shift to slot

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 06:30:37 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate could play more in the slot with WR Kenny Golladay potentially ready for a starting spot outside.

Fantasy Tip: Tate is built more like a slot receiver, and he doesn't get enough credit for what he has done the last three seasons somewhat out of position on the outside. He'll remain their top receiving option, and the move could only be a positive. He's a strong WR2 in fantasy.

Lions | Golden Tate supports Matthew Stafford

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 18:30:46 -0700

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford needs a contract extension as soon as possible, according to WR Golden Tate. "They gotta get that done," Tate said "He deserves it. He does everything right. You don't have to worry about him getting in trouble. He balls-out. He's tough as nails. He's what you want in a quarterback."

Fantasy Tip: Tate has enjoyed plenty of success catching passes from Stafford, so it is no surprise that he is a believer. Stafford enters the season as a dependable QB1, and Tate is a quality WR2.

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 17:11:52 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate has the sixth-most receptions in the NFL since signing with Detroit in 2014, and he has reached 90 receptions in all three seasons with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Tate is locked in as Matthew Stafford's go-to option. He is an underrated WR2 with a high floor in PPR formats.

Lions | Golden Tate tough to bring down

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 07:09:59 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate was seventh in the NFL last season with 153 receiving yards after contact.

Fantasy Tip: Tate started slowly, but he ended up with a 91-1,077-4 line. He's an underrated WR2 in fantasy.

Lions | Golden Tate leads in forced missed tackles

Mon, 10 Jul 2017 21:38:22 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate has forced 53 missed tackles since 2015, the most in the NFL by a wide receiver over that span.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has been a target and reception machine since joining Detroit in 2014, racking up at least 90 catches and drawing more than 125 targets in each of his three years with the Lions. Considering his talents and the high-powered offense he plays in with Matthew Stafford under center, it looks like Tate can be relied upon again as a WR2 in 2017.

Lions | Golden Tate addresses contract status

Sat, 10 Jun 2017 16:03:32 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate addressed reporters that he believes he is "underpaid", but the veteran wideout is unlikely to seek a contract extension during the 2017 season. Tate told reporters he is "eyeing a new deal" within the next couple years but is not demanding one.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has had three straight seasons of 90 catches or more and has 1,831 yards after catch since coming to the Lions in 2014. He will go fairly high as a WR1 in most drafts.

Lions | Golden Tate overcame slow start

Sat, 25 Feb 2017 21:22:51 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate averaged 3.4 catches, 6.1 targets and 26.8 yards per game over the first five games of 2016, but he posted per-game averages of 6.7 catches, 9.5 targets and 85.7 yards over the final 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the slow start, Tate reached 90 receptions for the third straight year and topped 1,000 yards. He should be a dependable WR2 in PPR formats in 2017.

Lions | Six catches for Golden Tate

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 21:50:59 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted six receptions for 58 yards on his six targets in the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Tate's production has been erratic lately, posting 100-yard games in two of the past four while sandwiched around a pair of mediocre performances. He does have six or more grabs in four straight and eight of the past 10 to help those in PPR fantasy formats.

Lions | Golden Tate has 100-yard game

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 14:05:17 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate caught eight of his 13 targeted passes for 122 yards in a 17-6 loss to the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: One of his passes was a 67-yard strike from Matthew Stafford, and that was more a victim of the Giants giving up big plays than anything else. If Tate can do this against a defense like New York, however, then he's worth starting as a WR1.

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 20:50:43 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate picked up six receptions for 58 yards on a game-high 11 targets in the Week 14 game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has totaled 19 catches for 280 yards and a touchdown over the past three games. He has re-emerged as a useful WR3 in most fantasy formats after a touch stretch in early November.

Lions | Golden Tate has explosive game

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 14:42:18 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate finished with eight catches and 145 yards, including a 66-yard touchdown scamper, in a 28-13 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Tate took advantage of a porous Saints pass defense on his long touchdown, but the bigger story is how well Tate did overall. Take away that long TD and he still had 79 receiving yards. Tate is a strong WR1 on a Lions squad with plenty of pass-catching options.

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 17:54:06 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted three receptions for 27 yards in the Week 11 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate crushed his fantasy owners with three grabs, his fewest since Week 5. He entered with 32 receptions over the past four outings with at least 79 yards in three of the four games. Tate will look to rebound in Week 12 against the Vikings on Thanksgiving. He posted 11 grabs for 79 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 in the first meeting in Minnesota.

Lions | Golden Tate runs away a winner

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 14:58:45 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate finished with 11 catches, 79 yards, and a 28-yard touchdown catch from QB Matthew Stafford in overtime. The Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings, 22-16.

Fantasy Tip: Tate's strong outing elevated his status among fantasy owners. Tate shouldn't be your WR1 but a WR2/WR3 is not out of the question. He and Stafford have developed a nice rapport.

Lions | Golden Tate targeted 12 times in win

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 17:42:48 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate had six receptions for 93 yards in the Week 7 game against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted 12 times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate started out very slowly, and likely was dropped by a high percentage of fantasy owners. However, he has 14 catches for 258 yards and a score over his past two games, and he has been targeted 22 times. Matthew Stafford has re-discovered Tate, and he has re-emerged as a trustworthy fantasy option in most formats heading into Week 8 in Houston.
