Lions | Golden Tate quiet in victory

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 17:54:06 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted three receptions for 27 yards in the Week 11 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate crushed his fantasy owners with three grabs, his fewest since Week 5. He entered with 32 receptions over the past four outings with at least 79 yards in three of the four games. Tate will look to rebound in Week 12 against the Vikings on Thanksgiving. He posted 11 grabs for 79 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 in the first meeting in Minnesota.

Lions | Golden Tate runs away a winner

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 14:58:45 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate finished with 11 catches, 79 yards, and a 28-yard touchdown catch from QB Matthew Stafford in overtime. The Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings, 22-16.

Fantasy Tip: Tate's strong outing elevated his status among fantasy owners. Tate shouldn't be your WR1 but a WR2/WR3 is not out of the question. He and Stafford have developed a nice rapport.

Lions | Golden Tate targeted 12 times in win

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 17:42:48 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate had six receptions for 93 yards in the Week 7 game against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted 12 times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate started out very slowly, and likely was dropped by a high percentage of fantasy owners. However, he has 14 catches for 258 yards and a score over his past two games, and he has been targeted 22 times. Matthew Stafford has re-discovered Tate, and he has re-emerged as a trustworthy fantasy option in most formats heading into Week 8 in Houston.

Lions | Golden Tate finally looks golden

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 20:36:20 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted eight receptions for a game-high 165 yards and a touchdown in the Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Rams. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate had been a huge disappointment to date, posting just 17 receptions for 134 yards in his first five games, so a lot of fantasy owners likely had benched or dropped him, missing out on this gem. If he is available off the waiver wire he is worth a look in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 7 against Washington.

Lions | Golden Tate may see time in backfield

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 12:26:35 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate may lineup at running back at times during the team's Week 6 game in order to be a receiver out of the backfield.

Fantasy Tip: Tate saw time at running back in the last game and likely will be used there again because of Theo Riddick's injury. Tate has been pretty quiet so far this season but should still be at least a flex option for owners.

Lions | Golden Tate disappoints in Week 5

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 17:29:43 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate posted three receptions for just 39 yards in the Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Tate was counted upon to be a player filling the void following the retirement of Calvin Johnson, but Tate has been a bust with just 17 grabs, 134 yards and no touchdowns through five games. He is only worth keeping around as a WR4 until he starts to produce.

Lions | OC expects big things from Golden Tate

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 09:40:38 -0700

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said he expects WR Golden Tate to have a big game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has caught only 14 passes for 95 yards and zero touchdowns in the first four games of the season, but the team says he is still an important part of the offense. Owners can still consider him a starting option but he is more of a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Lions | Golden Tate still has integral role in offense

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 10:00:11 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate was not benched in a Week 4 loss against the Chicago Bears and remains an important part of the offense, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Considering Tate played only 36 of 63 snaps and saw very little playing time after Matthew Stafford was seen yelling at him for running the wrong route on an interception, it's probably safe to assume he was benched. This season has been a startling fall from grace for the 28-year-old Notre Dame product, who recorded at least 90 catches in both of his first two years in Detroit. It's still too early to drop him in most competitive leagues, but he doesn't warrant a fantasy start anytime soon either.

Lions | Golden Tate still Detroit's No. 1 WR?

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 21:32:42 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate is still the top option in the passing game, according to offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, and Cooter said Tate's slow start is a product of the offense's emphasis of spreading the ball around.

Fantasy Tip: While Marvin Jones and Theo Riddick thrive, Tate has just 94 yards through three games. Tate should have his chance to shine at some point, and he has enough upside to use as a WR3 against a winless Bears team in Week 4.

Lions | Golden Tate catches 2 of 13 targets

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 14:42:30 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate hauled in two passes on 13 targets for 13 yards Sunday, Sept. 18, versus the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Tate was unable to get in sync with QB Matthew Stafford and should be given the benefit of the doubt in Week 3, particularly if Green Bay is without CB Sam Shields. Tate shouldn't be trusted quite as much, however.
